Lockout chord recognition

I have a request.

To trigger chord on varranger I'm using a guitar with chord recognition device attached.

When I want to play a quick bit of lead or a quick fill in on the guitar this guitar device will send a change chord signal to varranger ( this chord recognition device has a single note mode but is hard to get to for such a short moment.)

Is there a way to turn off chord recognition I would use a momentary pedal to do this if possible as I have made a great foot pedal box with 12 switches on it that uses the brains of a dell desktop computer keyboard   So in the foot controller I have all I need to accomplish this.

I use full keyboard mode to get the guitar unit to act correctly and this has been somewhat successful but in normal non full keyboard mode varranger will pickup some rouge notes and change chords on me.

Is there something in varranger  that I could assign very fast for on and off chord recognition

Thanks

Dan

Hello,
Try to activate the vRIFF button, it is on top of the 4 variations A B C D
It basically replace your own chord playing with the SONG CHORDS grid
But if the Song chords is empty, maybe it will do what you need. Just try it and tell me
This button can be assigned to your foot pedal

Hi Dan
unfortunately it does not lockout the chord recognition for the little bit I was looking for, no problem we can find another work around. Thanks for the suggestion.

on a related note,   previously I did not get into the chord create part of the program to much but It now tweaked my interest so a couple questions.

I was hoping to us vriff song chord  for a song I do ( Long song ) as I switch between 4 or 5 instruments, Very basic only 3 chords and very repetitive.

Is there a way to have the song chord function loop back to the beginning? as the   I since have found out how to turn vriff on and off, I had to get out of the edit mode and save the chords   works great . Makes the program even more powerful and just have to use the two features to get the end result.

I can make the chord loop with the record/playback function, but I thought there might be some connection between the two recording  systems, and I would not have to start the song with the guitar which is what I'd use to lay the record chords  portion with live. , starting and stopping the vriff seems to kick it back to the beginning of the chords so just have to cycle in and out of vriff a bit.

Thanks Hayseed

Dan

No, but you can copy and paste the same chord loop many times

To do this, right click on the first bar, then SELECT FROM,
right click on the last bar and then SELECT TO
Then , PASTE X TIMES, and you can paste for how many times you need

Thanks Dan

So one workaround to try to get as close to shutting of the chord recognition with vriff is to make a one key chord song for 32 bars, by doing that I can shut of chord recognition as it coasts along in A for example , this  allows me to get a few licks in.
I guess the next progression is to possibly make three song chords eg: one in a one in D one in E  have them stacked in the same folder and one on top of each other everything the same on each one except for  the 32 bar song in the different key,  I'll have to try that,

vriff is unable to turn on or off if the song chord editor is on screen, is there someway hidden that those chords can be viewed when the style is playing.   Same thing for the rec and play function , at present those chords cannot be viewed, or is there a secret compartment that can see those chords?

Thanks
Hayseed

Dan

Yes, when SONG CHORDS editor is on screen, the chords are automatically played

I have another idea, is to set the split point in the orange screen to a very low note
Then, simply disable FULL KEYBOARD mode, and you will be able to play freely without any chords change, because the split point is too low
Then go back to FULL KEYBOARD mode to play as usual with your midi guitar

Hi Dan
Is there a single shortcut key for show options/Midi devices.  I have there that I have connected and switch back and forth from throughout the show, is there a fast way to get to the midi devices page other than using the mouse to hover and click, I then select either , my accordion, my keyboard, or midi guitar as my main #1 midi device.
Thanks
Hayseed

Dan

Options / Midiports is not fast, or imagined for realtime modifications. It is unlaoding everything, and then reloading everything...
Maybe use a midi merger , or 2 computers if you need very fast switching

hayseed

Ok I'm fine with the way you described , I just thought there may be a shortcut.

I have another question re the Song chords/  Vriff.

When the C intro is especially long each measure plays the first part of the Intro and does not seem to allow the full i9ntro to play, I tried setting 4 measures as intro and selecting C Intro for each and it will not play it fully, then tried setting the first measure to intro and allowing to play the 4 measures, is there a allowable change in the timing of a measure such as 2/4 time or 8/4 time  I've attached the style in question,  I've also tried to work with 1/2 measures but I cant figure out those. You cannot view this attachment.

Dan

I don't have your song chords, but if your intro is doing 6 measures, you don't have to enter 6 times Intro 3, but only once at beginning
The sections can be changed only once at the beginning of the bar, and the chords, only at each time for now

Hello Dan
I made a video to demonstrate, hope this will help my problems, Disregard the 3rd example in the video

https://youtu.be/zBOA_BDNt5E

ex#1 0 sec0nds
ex#2 9 seconds
ex#3 19 sec  disregard
ex#4 30 seconds
Ex#5  37 seconds   PSR S950   This is what I'm looking for   it is 6 bars long.  I'm assuming measures in  varranger song chords are the same as what the PSR is calling Bar

Thanks Hayseed

Dan

On the Yamaha You seems to have 2 bars Intro, 2 bars variation and 2 bars fill-in
Why not doing the same on the song chords?

hayseed

Hi Dan

That is my question, on the yamaha I only press intro 3 or C on the varranger, on the yamaha I only press the button once and it plays the whole intro of 6 bars, on the varranger it only plays 1 bar.

It's not a big problem on this song as I can play the intro live on varranger and it works fine the same as on the PSR 950.  It is only on the song chords mode it seems to limit the intro to 1 bar.  I'm just trying to understand how to insert the C intro into the song chords mode.

Granted the yamaha is not playing a preset chord structure as varranger is doing so  when both are playing the C intro, both devices are playing intro as it should be.

Thanks Hayseed

Dan

It plays 1 bar, because you have selected INTRO 3 in every bar, so it will start again from start
Just select INTRO 3 once in the first bar, and nothing in the 6 following bars

hayseed

Thanks Dan
I could not get it to work until I made the changes/saved went out of that song / style to a different one  and back into the Venus song, works fine now.
Thanks
