I have been looking at getting a second hand KN7000, but found varranger and it looks a more practical choice - I only play at home for me.  So a few questions from a newbie on this.

Can you tell me if anyone has tried the Strewberry music "KN7000 reprise styles" with varranger - and what's the latest Tyros styles that would work with varranger.  This is what I was looking at:

Would varranger also load the registrations from this?

In combination with my korg i3.  Would varranger and those styles give me a fair kn7000 experience - without actually needing to buy a 15 year old arranger keyboard - bearing in mind what I will use it for

Thanks

Jules

Hello Jules,

Do you already have this style pack?

vArranger can plays All yamaha styles, for now up to Tyros 5, plus Roland, Ketron/Solton, and soon Korg styles.

You can use your Korg i3 as a MIDI keyboard to play vArranger, plugged to the computer with a USB/MIDI converter, like the Roland UM-ONE MKII

Let me know if you have any questions.

Dan

Hi Dan

I don't have the style pack, but wanted to check that varranger could take them if I got the tyros version.  Would the registrations work as well?

I have a midisport 4x4 for i3 to PC that should connect it up ok.
Will an intel i5, windows 7, 8gb memory be good enough to run varranger (and perhaps hypersonic vst in future)?

Finally just to check - I would be putting varranger on to a usb stick, what size stick needed for that?

Thanks for help

Jules

I don't know what they mean by registration, but I think it's just a list of song, with the associated style name and the tempo, that the tyros can display.
If it is this, we can open this file with a text editor, to see what is inside.

Your computer is perfect for vArranger and VST.

Any size will be OK for the USB stick, program is very lightweight and optimized.

Hi Dan

I think registrations (in yamaha terms) are the parameters/settings for the instrument (the OTS (one touch settings).

So on a real tyros loading a registration file would select the style and the instruments that would compliment it to play the lead and set correct tempos and alike.  Does that make sense?

I found this which I found a bit tricky to understand (as never owned a tyros!) but you might understand

http://tyrosmania.com/registrations.php

I think I was trying to ask can these tyros registrations be loaded into varranger?

Thanks for your quick responses to all my questions.

Dan

For now, yamaha registrations files can't be selected in vArranger.
The reason is because the registration is just a link to a style number installed on the tyros.
This need to be checked.
If you buy this package, you can send it to me, and I can try to see if some informations can be useful for a vArranger user.
