3- To Play Yamaha styles you need.....?

4- What types of Yamaha styles are compatible with vArranger?

5- Can vArranger play Korg styles?

Hi Machetero,

1- What is vArranger?

vArranger is a software who allows you to play music like with any arranger keyboard. Basically, selecting styles, playing chords with left hand, and melody with Right hand.

Usually it is working like that :

MIDI INSTRUMENT connected to PC >>>>> vArranger >>>>> MIDI SOUND MODULE connected to PC

There is many other options....

You can control the arranger from any PC key, or Midi controller.
You can also enter your chords into a grid, and create backing tracks very easily
You can manage the files as you want to create your songbook, with good saving registrations options (+ displaying scores with styles).

There is a MP3/KARAOKE/MIDIFILE player

Sounds creation with full layers

3 midi instruments INPUT and 3 MIDI modules can be used together...

10 favorites sounds for each styles.

And a lot more...

2- To play Ketron styles, what are the hardware requirements?

Ketron styles made by ketron are using some sounds that are present only on their sound modules. They released 2 compact sound modules Ketron SD2 and Ketron SD4. It is the actual standard solution for vArranger, who will let you edit 100% of the midi settings of the SD2. You will get an amazing sound.

Another solution is using a virtual sound module with some Ketron sampled sounds.
I am still working on releasing this virtual sound module. It is 70% completed.
A vArranger user was before using a Ketron SD4, and now replacing it with it's own sampled sounds from SD4 and other sources with a Virtual sampler.

Here some sound demos he sent me yesterday :

3- To Play Yamaha styles you need.....?
I would say a Yamaha XG sound module. There is also a Virtual XG sound module.
We did a special work to adapt the Yamaha styles to the Ketron SD2, so it will sound great too.
Yamaha styles can be played almost OK with any GM synth.

4- What types of Yamaha styles are compatible with vArranger?
ALL

5- Can vArranger play Korg styles?
Not yet. I started to decode the Korg and Roland styles, but it need some MORE work.

5- What is the price of the product?
349€.  You can buy it here http://www.varranger.com/Buy_Now.php

Hope this helps :)

Dan

Hi Dan,
you're planning on adding korg as well, that's great.

Dan

Yes, started to look at the Korg style format.

I have almost understood the compression algorithm of the style, but I have to decode it 100% if I want to add the Korg support.

Do you have any info about the compression of Korg style?

fazfaz

What about your work for Roland Styles ?

Dan

It will come before Korg styles for sure :)

Hi Dan,
sorry, that's way above my head.
I know how to create a korg style, but that's about it.

What korg format did you have in mind?
Guitar Mode style tracks on PA2X/PA3X, would probably prove more difficult than the earlier keyboards that didn't have them??
There again I'm still amazed you manage to create a style player for ketron.
