There is a nice tutorial here
http://www.jososoft.dk/yamaha/articles/Style_1.htm

Yamaha styles can be created with any DAW like cubase etc...
Because they are midifiles with markers.

Some more options can be added later with more free software

I was just looking into buying vArranger, so I was browsing the forum to see what features it has [I can't find any information about specific features of vArranger]. But I mostly only want it to create my own custom styles. Does this mean that vArranger is not set up to create original styles, or styles from scratch? And you must use other software to create, then import them?

Also I want to know how many patterns, or "chord variations" [as they are called in the Korg microArranger] I can have for a single style in vArranger. Or how many variations of the style can be stored for calling up while playing the style?

In the Korg microArranger, I can play chords on the keyboard while a style is playing, and the chords are translated into the harmony of the style. Is this how vArranger works? Sorry for the dumb questions, but this is all I'm left with due to no information on the website about vArranger.

And is there somewhere I can look to find out more of what vArranger does, or doesn't do?

Thanks for any help.

Also need to know how well I would fare with vArranger if I don't have that SD thing I keep reading about. Is that a keyboard?
Once again, sorry for being clueless. NEED INFO somewhere on a website...Desperately  :-[

Hi ivyhome,

You can create Roland styles from midifiles with this tool from Roland :
http://www.roland.com/support/article/?q=downloads&p=GW-8&id=1812300

And then play them with vArranger.

vArranger can play Ketron, Yamaha or Roland styles.

I will add a style creator in a new free update later.

vArranger is not limited on the number of chord variations.

Yes, vArranger is working like the Korg microArranger.  You change the chords, and the harmony is generated in realtime.

vArranger was initially working with the Ketron SD2 sound module http://www.ketron.com/itemdetails.asp?mod=SD2

With this MIDI sound module, vArranger is sounding amazing.

vArranger can work with other MIDI modules too. But it need some work more.

A virtual synth going with vArranger will be released soon.
