I stumbled across an iPad app called stomp box. Completely on the other end of the scale from what varranger does.(Dan has done a very good job on the varranger program)
Stomp box produces a kick and snare in a sequence that you can manipulate the order but the trigger is not automatic. It relies on the accelerometer to activate the the beat. This is very simple and I can use it in a simple busking type situation with accoustic guitar and harmonica. ( move the knee and the kick triggers. Move again and the snare triggers and so on) The interesting thing and very comfortable aspect of this system is that I control the tempo the pauses just by tappping my foot (iPad is placed flat on my knee ). My question to Dan is how hard would this trigger be to integrate into varranger. The reason I ask is, I have situations where the other players in the group don't do well with arranger drums and getting out of sync. Is there a way to integrate this foot tapping scenario into the tap tempo of the varranger so that the tempo is governed by a footswitch of some sort which is constantly being tapped. Tap stops so does the rythme of varranger. I see this as where ai will take us in the future to give live expression to arranger music. Just my opinion.
We usually use the RESTART feature when the singer or the band is going out of time
You can assign it to a footswitch
