Title: Suggestion for next upgrade
Post by: Deane on July 21, 2011, 11:07:40 PM
Hi Dan,
On some of the styles the 4th variation has a RIFF which is really neat.  It would be really neat if
during the RIFF the chords were displayed just like when we play them ourselves.

Unfortunately, those RIFF are kind of midifiles that don't own Chords information.

PS : did you ever see the SONG CHORDS feature?

Hi Dan,
I'll give that a try - should be fun.
One other question about the RIFFs in variation 4 of some styles.  It seems to me the RIFFs do not always play
in the same key of the song being played.  Has anyone else had this experience?

Just tell us the style played, and the chords pressed, we will try it :)

Hi Dan,
I will be working full time this week on vArranger and will email a list of the styles that seem to have the RIFF problem.
I used vArranger again today on a gig and had my first problem - but it is a SD2 problem.  Twice today I had to turn off and on again the SD2 unit because a sound was hung.  Clicking on the Panic button did not help.  I also noticed that some of the new styles I tried today, which were Yamaha PSR3000 styles, required me to click on the Panic button to get the correct sound from them.  On startup they sounded really strange but after clicking on the Panic button they were ok.  I'll find those styles again and email them to you also.

Deane,
I have 2xSD2 and never experienced any hanging.
There is a SD2 crash test Dan can send you.
But if your Sd2 serial number is new you should be fine only older serial numbers crashed.

Poor Deane, you own one of those SD2 who are crashing.

Just read this :
http://www.varranger.fr/vforum/index.php?topic=112.0 (http://www.varranger.fr/vforum/index.php?topic=112.0)

Note that some users did the last SD2 update and have then no more problems

Note that an important number of users, who did the SD2 update, me included, crashed their SD2, with the need to go back to the Ketron repair center, and to replace the internal chip...

Hi Dan,
I am not worried about doing the update.  There is no Ketron dealer close to me.   I just need to know how to make the connections between the computer and the SD2 Unit.

If this update is like all the others I have done it is rather automatic once the process is started.

If the update does not cure the problem I'll just have to buy another because I can't use the unit on gigs like it is working now - I might even try the SD4 unit.

This update is not like other updates, because, if something goes wrong, the SD2 is dead.

And the update software is not very secured.

I know 6 SD2 users who crashed their SD2 while upgrading.

And 3 users who succeed.

I also know that your computer is a 64 bit Windows, and I am afraid that no one tested the Ketron update software on a 64 bit OS.

What is the serial number of your SD2?

I can't see the serial number of my SD2 Unit because there is velcro glued to the bottom of the unit.  I did notice the upgrade was for units in a certain serial number range.
