Sometimes I write music melody with chord symbols using software Sibelius.
This program can play the melody only. (Not the accompaniment.)
(This is for me the most missing feature of this program.)
Is there any option how to import song chords from Sibelius into the vArranger?
Sibelius can export music sheet in xml format.
Not for now. Maybe later I will add a midifile to chords analyzer
Hi Dan,
Ability to get Chords from xml file(as Chord Symbols) into vArranger
would be VERY useful!
I too have existing Chord sequences I would like to Import.
To be able to Export new vArranger Chord sequences also would be a
great time saver when adding a melody to create a Lead Sheet in
Notation Software.
Hope you can add this.

I do not want to advertise here, I would like to give an example.
My favorite accompaniment generator is program Ludwig.
http://www.write-music.com/
It can produce sophisticated accompaniment by the notated melody with chord symbols.
It use algorithms similar to author's chess program.
Unfortunately, this program can not read xml, also
and it seems that this program has stopped development.
However you can download the trial version
and the price of this software is ridiculously small. (€49,99)
JJazzLab can import songs from different file types using the menu File/Import songs.
see: https://jjazzlab.gitbook.io/user-guide/songs/importing-songs
Could this feature be implemented into the vArranger, too?
An musicXML import might be enough to start with.

vArranger can import the chords from Band In A Box songs
Maybe I can add the MusicXML format, but is there a big song database with chords in this format ?
QuoteMaybe I can add the MusicXML format, but is there a big song database with chords in this format ?
Not sure, but Every modern notation software (Sibelius, MuseScore, Dorico, etc.) can export the score in MusicXML format.
By the way, speaking of Musescore, here is a decent database of songs with chords.
https://musescore.com/sheetmusic?text=lead%20sheet
And these sheet music can be downloaded in various formats, including MusicXML.
I think most on this website are not free.
You can send me some MusicXML files + chords, so I can learn more about the file format
Of course, I'll give you as much as you need.
Here are some examples.

Btw. xml is zipped version of the musicxml.
Thanks
And here is a detailed description of this format.

Btw. here is a link to Wikifonia database of 6,675 lead sheets in mxl format.
