Title: NEW AMAZING FEATURE : DUAL MIDI OUT
Post by: Dan on September 28, 2010, 11:36:09 PM
Hi !

On the next coming version we will have a new interesting feature : A second MIDI OUT.

Before, it was only possible to play music with your Ketron SD2 connected to vArranger. It is very good but now you can select a second Midi module to play with.

Here is some of the applications of this new feature :

- Use 2 sounds  modules, for example a Ketron SD2 + a Roland SD50

- Plug 2 Ketron SD2 or one SD2+ one SD4, to double the polyphonie.

- Use your SD2 in conjonction with a Virtual Sound Module like Edirol HyperCanvas, or any VST host !!!
What about using the drums from BFD and the right hand piano from a Steinway VST, and the other tracks from the Ketron SD2?

- If one module freeze, you have the second one as rescue.

- You can play with your Ketron SD2, and connect the second Midi OUT to a DAW like Cubase or Sonar, to record your performance.

-...

All this very easily, like always with vArranger.

I just have to edit 1000 lines of code before it is done.

Do you want it? :p

Who doesn't want it mate :o

Dan that will come very handy indeed, especially now I  am getting SD4.
This just opens a whole new side to things and allows more freedom.

I say yes

Hi Dan.

looks like a lot of new things are possible now. :D  :D  :D

When using Sonar for recording, will all tracks be displayed so that they can be edited?

Brian.

Done on the 0.92 version :

- On the MIDI PORTS screen, you will have a 2nd MIDI OUT list.

- You can right clik on any track, it will show a context menu with SEND TO MIDI OUT 1   /   SEND TO MIDI OUT 2
So you can select for any track if you want it to route it to the module n°1, or the module n°2, or the 2 modules together (usefull if you want to send what you hear also to a MIDI sequencer to record).

 ;D
That's good news, hopefully it is not far away, getting itchy fingers.

Also recieved my SD4 and yes there is a noticeble sound difference. To my ears it sounds more crispy.

When version .92 is ready then I can test side by side the SD2 and SD4.

Has the yamaha styles been fixed to allow Endings, etc to be used and saved.

Thanks
Lionel

Hi Dan,

Just so that I am on the right track.

I can load any Yamaha style into vArranger and save with intro, Ending, etc when you have finished latest version.

Christmas is nearly here and I am getting some songs ready for carols as we have to plan early.

All the tracks are by default routed to the MIDI OUT 1 only
All the RIGHT and LEFT sounds are routed by default to the MIDI OUT 1 only

If you want to send something to the second midi out, just right click on a track, and select the MIDI OUT 2.

You can change the Right 1/2/3/4 MIDI OUT routing, and then SAVE SOUND.

So you can create new sounds, some played by the module 1, some by the module 2 and some by the 2 together, for example a Piano from Korg module and a Strings from SD2, together...
