Title: SD1000 Where to Buy First impression
Post by: Gerard on August 06, 2013, 01:33:19 AM
Good to be back on here.
I was wrapped up in a Tyros 4 for 1 1/2 years. LOL

Bought my SD100 from thomann.de for 407 euros delivered to the USA.
I did not want to wait for it to get to the USA stores.
It took about a week from time of ordering to receiving it.

Took it out of the box and it setup just fine.
I use a m-audio ES-88 keyboard.
I also use a Behringer FCB1010 pedal board.
And I have a TC Helicon Voicel live 2 for vocal harmonies.
I midi out of the m-audio into the TC Helicon and USB out of the m-audio into the computer.

SD1000 Voices are better than I thought.
Starting to experiment around with the live drums for some of my songs.

Most all of the Tyros 4 styles work just fine.
Sometimes have to mute the Perc track because of weird sounds.

I bought over 100 styles for Tyros 4 from d-o-o.de.
These are song specific styles including intros.
So far, they are working fine on vArranger and SD1000.

I must have unplugged the SD1000 by pulling out the power cord from the unit and not shutting it off and it blew the fuse!
I bought some .5 amp (500 Milli), to have on hand if I forget to turn it off with the switch again.

One thing I wish would be a list of Yamaha sounds to SD1000 sounds.
It would make it a lot easier to setup on the SD1000.
I have 300 songs in the Tyros 4 songbook to convert to vArranger.

Gerard,

Welcome back.  Glad to get your first impressions of the SD1000.  I am debating whether the SD1000 brings enough value over the SD4 to get it.  Would be interested in your thoughts in this regard as you get going with the SD1000.

Your set-up is what I am trying to achieve except with guitar using Triple Play from Fishman to drive the Varranger.  I have a Voicelive 2 but am also considering in time the Voicelive Play GTX which is more focused on guitar and from what I understand a little more intuitive.

Thanks,

Terry

Terry,
I had an SD2, so I can't compare the SD1000 to the SD4. And the voices, for me, are much better, and I love the Live drums.

I like the Voicelive because I can change harmonies by just changing chords, while singing one note.

Terry
Is the SD1000 not powered by USB rather than direct from mains supply?

I think you meant this for Gerard.  I have not invested in the SD1000 yet.

Thanks,

Terry

Jon,

The SD1000 is NOT powered by USB.
