Hi everyone,
just today my SD2 when switched on doesn't power up. Can anyone tell me the power supply details.
As the unit is still under warranty I would firstly like to try a different power supply before sending back to Germany.
Brian.

Dan

I don't know anything more than what is written on my french SD2's power supply :

Cincon Electronics co.,ltd.
power adaptor
model : TR10R120
input : 100-240V~0.4A
47-63HZ
output : 12V ===0.85A

I found more info on this model
http://www.cincon.com/data/products/adcd1_1/TR10R.pdf

Brian

Thanks Dan for your reply. Mine is exactly the same. Most power adaptors state the output polarity ie 12 volt pin positive or pin negative but I cannot find anything on this "Ketron" adaptor .... made in China !!. Looks like I will have to return to Thomann Germany.

I tried to source one of these also.
They would not sell it to anyone directly in the EU due to legislation?
They would sell to America etc.
I bought a second SD2 as a back up sound module with the supplied power suppy.
A SD2 at £280 GBP is a cheap affordable back up.
A Tyros of Audya back up is not affordable.
And now most of us have our previous laptop as a back up.

Cancon said to me ....................
TR10R120-24A02 is a valid part number though we don't carry it in system. However AC adapter should be compliant to WEEE Directive. This kind of part has delivery restrictions.
It cannot be shipped to the EU, China, Hong Kong, Croatia, Turkey, Norway or Switzerland. You can take a look at below link:

Hi Please advise cost for
Cincon power adaptor with 3 pin for UK
Cincon
I cannot find the 24A02 version in your parts list
The output wattage power rating is not on the adaptor I have.
It has a label with Cincon Electronics Co. Ltd.
specifications
TR10R120 - 24A02
output 12V -  0.85A
input 100-240V  -  0.4A, 47-63hz
2.5 mm Barrel Plug
The 24A02 is marked on a white label stuck onto the side where the barrel plug lead exits the Cincon power unit
All other details are on a silver ROHS lable stuck next to the 3 pins plug.
This was supplied with a KETRON,  SD2 sound module (Italy) music manufacturers. They do not supply the power adaptor.

From what I see on the picture in the PDF
The + seems to be INSIDE, and the - is outside

As I said there are compliant WEEEE delivery restrictions to EU on these china made products.
WEEE is something to do with how the company's throw away their rubbish enviromentally and how they make their products to finally be thrown away when the product is no longer working  in an ENVIROMENTALLY safe way. ?
If it does net meet the guidelines they cannot ship to EU.
They suggested I get the item sent to a friend in America (where the EU restriction does not apply) then he can send it privately to me in UK to bypass the legal restrictions .

ALSO ketron Italy and Ketron UK are not interested as I also made this enquiry with them for a spare power adapter without any success.
Bad bad ketron. Unfortunately I love their sounds.

I also wandered if there are restrictions . How did ketron manage to get the power adapted into EU Italy?
Maybe because it is part of a package along with the SD2 but not as a single package of only the power adapter?

Thanks Dan for the information. The centre pin is positive and I have tried a different 12volt power supply and my SD2 is now working. I will now try to source an equivalent power supply with same specifications.
Many thanks .. Brian.

Dont think you gave your worldwide location?
Can you let me know if you source a SD2 power supply in UK?
Just noticed that my 9 month old SD2 power supply has bare wires showing right at the tip where the cable exits the 2 pin power supply unit.
I never put any stress on the cable ends when wrapping up my power supply unit always treating it gently.
I am surprised that wear and tear has still happened after all the care I take.
However I use my SD2 about 4-6 times each week so it would have to be well made to stand constant moving etc.
I may also decide to force open the supply unit and replace from inside with better cable and make a join half way so the original tip is still used.
I could source a  new tip but this way I will still benefit from the tip having moulded cable at the entrance to the tip and join the two cables also giving me more length.

Probably not of any interest but the only supplier I sourced would not sent to EU/UK because of WEEE regulations
Here is what WEEE  regulations are ..........................
WEEE Regulations

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive is now UK law. The legislation aims to make producers pay for the collection, treatment and recovery of waste electrical equipment. The regulations also mean that suppliers of equipment like high street shops and internet retailers must allow consumers to return their waste equipment free of charge.
The amount of WEEE we throw away is increasing by around 5% each year, making it the fastest growing waste stream in the UK.
Much of the UK's WEEE ends up in landfill, where the lead and other toxins it contains can cause soil and water contamination. This can have a harmful effect on natural habitat, wildlife and also human health.
Many electrical items that we throw away can be repaired or recycled. Recycling items helps to save our natural finite resources and also reduces the environmental and health risks associated with sending electrical goods to landfill.
Distributors of new Electric and Electronic Equipment (EEE) have a part to play in reducing the amount of WEEE going into landfill sites.
GAK is obliged under these regulations to offer our customers free take-back of their WEEE on a like-for-like basis when they buy a new Electrical or Electronic product from us.
For example, if a customer bought a new electric guitar from us we would accept their old electric guitar and prevent it going into a landfill site by disposing of it safely. Customers must return their WEEE item to us within 28 days of purchasing their new item.
Under the WEEE Regulations, all new electrical goods should now be marked with the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol.
Goods are marked with this symbol to show that they were produced after 13th August 2005, and should be disposed of separately from normal household waste so that they can be recycled.
For further information concerning WEEE regulations, please visit http://www.vca.gov.uk/enforcement/weee-enforcement.asp and http://www.vca.gov.uk/enforcement/weee-advice-to-householders.asp

Strange that Ketron in Italy can get those modules

jan1kow

Maybe there is a way round it for ketron Italy as they are getting the power suppply unit combined with a SD2 package and not as a single item. The SDw may be WEEE certified even although the power unit is not. Just a guess.
