Hello everyone!
Please help me understand how the vArranger works.
I have more programs  and i know how they work, but this varranger i don't understand.
Is this full arranger with sounds and styles, or does it need to have external sounds and styles?
May i use this varranger with my Roland GW-8?
Where can i buy it?

Vasik.

Lionel

Hi Vasik,

Welcome to the forums.

How does vArranger work. Put simply...

Your GW-8 as a midi controller is the input to vArranger
You need an output sound source like Ketron SD2 (vArranger does not have sounds with-in itself)

Your GW-8 you press the keys (chords) with your left hand and vArranger according to style chosen plays
that with the data output to SD2 which generates the sounds.

You can split the keyboard so left hand plays chords, right hand plays melody, etc

You asked....
Is this full arranger with sounds and styles, or does it need to have external sounds and styles?

It is a arranger with styles(lots of them) but needs an external sound source. (Meaning something to generate the sound
with vArranger telling it what to play and what sort of instrument, etc)

You asked....
May i use this varranger with my Roland GW-8?

If GW-8 has midi output via USB or midi cable, yes you can..

You asked....
Where can i buy it?

On the home page there is a link to Buy  Now..

For further info just ask away.

Lionel

Vasik

Hi lionel!
Thank you so much for responding to my comment, now i understand how to use it.
Will i be able to download it from somewhere  to try it for several to see how it work, and then i'll buy?
Vasik.

Lionel

Hello again,

I'm glad to be of help.

On being able to try this, well there is no demo currently available.
There use to be, but in today's world of dishonest people and piracy that is currently on hold.

If you type vArranger in utube you will see some guys showing their stuff.
Have a look.

I have been a user for a while and never regretted buying vArranger.

Hi Lionel!
On youtube they just plaing, nobody
explains in English. Let me know, if I don't
have touch screen computer, how to select
the variations, fills or something else with
the mouse? To small information about it,
but it is expensive. I need more info. about it,and
then I'll decide what to do. Many thanks Lionel
Thank you for deciding  to help me, and I hope that
you'll help me continuely.

Vasik.

Lionel

Hi Vasik,

I don't use touch screen either, both my hands busy ;D

Everything can be selected by mouse or assigned to keyboard(Computer) or/And
assigned to your Keyboard(Instrument).

For example on my setup (Edirol PCR800) the varation changes are assigned to four keypads (1 for each variation)

Fills are also assigned to four other keypads (but fills can be triggered automatically via variation changes)

The sliders are assigned to
1. main volume
2.left intrument volume (keyboard melody)
3.right instrument volume (midi guitar melody)
4.other sliders to tracks like drums, bass, etc.
5.tempo assigned to mod lever(so we can speed or slow down during playing)

You can assign just about everything to your keyboard(intrument) and/or Keyboard(PC)

I have attached a couple of screenshots and one of my keyboard

Anything you want to know just fire away.
Glad to be of assistance

Lionel

Vasik

Hi Lionel!
I understood how it work!
Just let me know one thing. Can I modify the style,
or mute some instrument for several bars. or short
stop, long stop ( like break) or shortly say, edit the song
and after that, save it.

Vasik.

Lionel

Hi Vasik,

What you ask is not necesary what I understand, but here goes.

You can modify style as in changing instruments, volume, panning, chorus, reverb, tempo. (plus some I miss)

You can have no chord inserted where you want no chord playing but song still going.

You cannot mute here and there thru out the song, it is either muted or not, but you can edit style structure thru CASM edit(for Yamaha styles)
you can do certain things according to scrren shot below.

Vasik

Hi Lionel!
Ok! After that the song is finished, how to burn it on CD?
If I'll buy the vArranger and SD2, it's inough to make a music?

Vasik.

Lionel

Hi Vasik,

If you wanted to make a CD you would have to record the SD2 outputs and then
you would use mastering tools and burn too CD.

Lionel

Vasik

Hi Lionel!
Many Thanks for the information you
gave me. And I understood that, the vArranger
is like a manager, with it you can open and manage
the sounds from the sound modules, no more.

Thanks again and God bless you!

Vasik.

Hi Vasik,
vArranger is much more then you think. Its not just manager for sounds.
They can play a diferent styles from many kayboards.I supose you know
the fact if you want play Roland or Ketron style on Yamaha kayboard you cant
do that, cos styles from ather manufacturers has diferent structures.
So vArranger can do that jobe withaut conversion.
In one word: vArranger is virtula arranger like you can see in all kayboards who
can play styles withaut kays and much more...

Vasik

Hi Dusan!
Thanks a lot for your comments, these will helpe to know more about the vArranger.
I found on the internet it several weaks ago and i was interested to know what is it,
but unfortunately very little information. If someone has a vArranger quide in englesh, please!
make a copy and send me on my email;  vasyhrishk@gmail.com

Best Regards
Vasik.

Dusan

Hi Vasik,
I will be happy to, if I found user guide in English,
but they dont exsist jet.
You can dowenload only French version and transelate
with Google transelator if you setisfiye with that....

Hope in near future creator of vArranger publish user guide
in English.

Regards

Bernie9

The problem with an English version is in part because Dan is French.  Although he does very well with English, it would be much more difficult.  He tried to ask us English speaking customers to help in writing each a part.  So far, nothing has gone any farther.

The other problem is time.  If he were laboring with that he couldn't be writing code for new features.

Whereas an English version would be nice, there is nothing like hands on experience, as this is not rocket science.

Just my opinion

Bernie

Dusan

Hi Bernie,
If so,then is nececery to found person on that forum who
can handlet with both lenguages and asck for help.
I am shure somebody haw will to do that....

Regards

Vasik

Hi GUIs!
Then, send me a French user guide who have it!
I'll try to translate it!

Vasik.

Dusan

Bernie9

Vasik
That would be a big help to us.
Thank you
Bernie

Vasik

Hellou my friends!
I have a news and I want to share it with all of you.
I bought the SD2, and the vArranger.
But I please all of you to give me advice.
What keyboard controller is the best to get the ful control over the vArranger?

Vasik.

fazfaz

Look at M AUDIO keyboards control series.

I'm very happy with my Axiom 61 and vArranger.

http://www.m-audio.fr/index.php?do=products.family&ID=USBkeyboardcontrollers

backiki

I have a Roland Cakewalk A800 pro, it is one of the best for this application and DAN knows it well.
It is very easy to program all the controllers with VArranger2 and the A800 pro following the "Manuel d'utilisation".
J.Edouard.

Bernie9

I use the Axiom 61 and like it because of the many sliders and buttons, pads, etc, needed.  The Roland A800 pro would be my choice if something happened to the Axiom.
Lionel has a Roland A-800.  Maybe he will chime in.

I don't think the new Rolands are Cakewalk anymore.
Bernie

Dan

Hi Vasik, welcome in our forum as a vArranger user now :)
What keyboards do you actually have?

Hi Backiki,
How are you since your last trip in Paris? :)
I forgot that you have a Roland A-800Pro

Vasik

Hi Dan!
Now a'm using...m- audio key station 61.

Vasik.

Dan

If you don't want to change the keyboard, you can add something like that :

Deane

I use the Roland A-800 Pro Controller.  I have pictures on this forum of the setup if you are interested.

Deane

Vasik

Lionel

Hio Vasik,

I'm back after a busy Christmas , New Year.

Still alive ;D

If I am not too late my controller keyboard is Edirol PCR-800

If you look back up this thread you will see the picture of it

Lionel

Vasik

Hi Lionel!
When i read your comments my kb. was on the way. It's the Novation Impulse 61.
But i have a problem with it. The thing that works is just the p.bend and mod. wheel, and i don't know how to set it up with varr. to function all knobs..... or rather to have a full control over the vArranger.
If you know anything or know anyone that would know please comment

Thank You!
Vasik.

Dan

Hi Vasik,

Go on the OPTIONS/CONTROLLERS screen, and look at the bottom of the screen.

Move some buttons/knobs, and look if there is some events listed there.

If yes, just click on the function you want to assign, and move then the knob... It's Done.

Let us know if the Novation Impulse 61 is a good KB to control vArranger....

I will help you to set it up.

Dan

Deane

Vasik,

Dan got on line with me and setup my controller so I can control vArranger with the buttons and sliders.  I did not know my controller needed to be "made ready" to work with  vArranger.   So, if your buttons and sliders don't respond to what Dan has told you to do that might be the problem.

Deane

Vasik

Hi Dan,
Just i connected my Novation Impulse 61 midi controller to the laptop and assigned all 9 fathers, 8 knobs, 9 buttons and
all 6 buttons of transport bar and work perfect. I couldn't assigned the pads, because i think the pads are connected together and when i assigned one pad, then rest of the pads was responding.
In total i have had 32 controls on varranger from my Impulse controller. That's good!

Dan, tel me please, how to connect my Roland GW-8 or how to assigned to the varranger to work?
I connected through USB and i selected the Roland GW-8 to midi in and SD2 to midi out and no sound, just the indicator
blinking on varranger.

Vasik

Dan

Hi Vasik,

For sure you can also use the pads.
Go to the OPTIONS/CONTROLLERS screen, and look at the midi events coming, in the bottom of the screen.

Tell me what happens when you play with pads and with the Roland GW-8.

If you have options on the GW-8, you should send on channel 1, full keyboard.

If you plug it in the second midi IN of vArranger, don't forget to check the PLAY NOTES box

Vasik

Dan, I assigned the var.A to the pad 1, and when I tryed
to assign var. B to the pad 2, then the windows didn't let
me assign, it says  the var. A. was assigned.
Then, I tryed to assign the fillings, the intros, the endings;
I got the same ansver. If the one pad is assigned, then will
work all pads for one think.

The Roland GW-8 work well with Pro Tools, Reason etc....
but with vArr. doesn't work, just blinking one small indicator
on the top of vArranger.
Please explain me one more time step by step, and then I'll try again.

Vasik

Dan

I think all the pads are sending the same midi message.
Don't select any line in the controllers screen, and press the pad.

Tell me what is written on the bottom when you press different pads. I think you have to change it on the Impulse, or try another impulse template.

Tell me too, on witch channel the GW-8 is sending. It should be channel 1. Just try to go on the midi menu of the GW-8 and change the channel TX.

Dan

If you have internet on the computer, I can try to help you from here.

Vasik

I did. just work like midi controller without the knobs.
The knobs are not assignable. No midi events in option/controller

Vasik.

Vasik

Who knows how works casm edit for Yamaha styles?

Dan

For sure we can make them working good.

Yamaha styles are basically midifiles, that you can edit with a midi editor.
There is a part called CASM inside every style. You can edit it with CASMedit.

The goal is to say to the arranger, what to do with the midifile (channels redirections, transposing rules, ranges...)

If you need to create your own style from midifile, it's good.
Here more about casm

Vasik

Hi Dan,
Please, teach me how to save a song and than open in Sonar?

Vasik

Dan

Do you mean, a song with SONG CHORDS grid inside?

Vasik

Dan

It will come in a next free update...

Vasik

And when will be the next update?

Vasik

Dan

I hope this month, or next month

Vasik

Ok, this month is ok, but....the next month is to far

Vasik

Dan

Ok, I will try to put this feature in the top of my list, since many musicians are asking for it.

Vasik

Brian

How many keyboards do you have ?

Vasik

Dan

What is your main goal while exporting your song to sonar?

Vasik

I want to edit the song. In vArr. the song  playis from the beginning to end and it is somewhat the same.
And I want to change in some places to make it diferent.

Vasik

Vasik

Hi Dan!
Please reply to previous comment.

Vasik.

Dan

Yes, the goal of this new feature will be to create nice songs very easily

Select style, enter chords, export to midifile.

Go on your sequencer, like SONAR, edit everything you want,

Add audio , Midi , VST....

Then burn CD

It will be cool

Vasik

Thank you very much Dan!

Vasik.
