Do we need Roland Styles.
There are already 1000's of Yamaha and Ketron.
I already do not have time to look through them never mind even more styles.
We can get too carried away with too many styles.
Most styles start to become variations of others in same jendre.
There are still Varranger basics to be available.
ie. Harmony from a single lead solo note according to the chord being played.

I think we need it because :
- You can play more styles without any conversion needed
- Musicians who own a Roland arranger can go to vArranger easily
- Musicians who own a Roland sound module will probably find the roland styles sounds good on this modules.
- Roland styles are probably more GM/GS compliant than Ketron and Yamaha styles, so they will sound good with any sound modules.
- Roland styles on a Ketron SD2 will sound probably very good (better than on Roland keyboards?)
-...?

Jon,
There is another reason - for any given style such as a foxtrot there is always a style from some Keyboard that really fits well a song you wish to perform.  I know on my Tyros 4 I use dozens of styles from Korg and Roland that have been converted because they just feel better for certain songs than the built-in styles on my Tyros 4.

By the way, last night I converted almost 1700 PDF leadsheets into JPG format using the program you suggested.  It worked great.  I think I deleted the "Score" folder because I was not using it - can't remember where it needs to be placed.

Dan

Close to the song called ROCK.PAT, you create a folder called SCORE and put inside ROCK.JPG

Hi Dan,
couldn't agree more.

Be great when you get V Arranger set up for Roland styles. They are different to the yammie & ketron styles.

Roland Style Format almost decoded here

The next step will be to add the Roland player engine to vArranger.

Because, each brand has it's own way of doing things, every style engine to add is like writing a new software from 0 !

Roland styles seems more GM compliant than Ketron and Yamaha

Hi Dan,
that is fantastic news!  I have hundreds of Roland styles - I once owned a Roland E50 and a Roland E80.

Deane

Really good news !
VArranger2 + Roland Styles + Hypersonic2 could be a fantastic choice !  ;)

rikkisbears

Hi Dan,
that''s really great news. I still have some roland styles floating around somewhere.

Roland styles start to give some sounds here...

They are cool.

I tried some old Roland styles, as well as some new from the BK-7M.

They are all working.

Deane

Can't wait to get the upgrade and try out my roland styles.

When will the Roland style be ready. It will be a good reason to buy because most of my styles are Roland.

Ill  buy it this weekend if that the case. I do gigs every week with Roland styles
but hate bring that heavy roland keyboard. It be nice just to have the sd2, my super
lite midi keyboard and laptop. Thanks

Dan

If you want, you can send me your styles, so I can focus my work on them first

hello Dan,
Just wondering hows the Roland Styles are coming along. Hopefully it will be release soon.

Dan

I can now play Roland styles on vArranger, but still many things to fix before the first release.
Send me one style that you love on your roland KB, and I will record for you a mp3 demo, to give you an idea.

fazfaz

Here is an original Roland style disk coming with my hardware arranger EM55.
I like to heard "CONTEMP2" style playing with vArranger and Halion Sonic.

Dan

The Contemp2.stl Roland style is cool ! Witch song do you play with this style?

Brian

How do I open Certificate Trust List Files?

Dan

You can't for now.
I am working on the next version of vArranger who will be able to load Roland styles too.

Lionel

Coming in on this late, but having Roland style compatibility is a must as far as I think...Roland have some of the best jazz and funk styles around!!!! Well written and nice an open to allow lots of live play without "clutter"

Bring it on I say  8)

I have not heard any roland styles but you are correct about not needing too much cluutter in styles.
This is a problem that styles often have too much going on.
