Plug USB Midi cord into computer.
Midi out jack into Midi in on TC Helicon Voicelive 2.

In OPTIONS, set MIDI 2 output to USB MIDI Interface.

Sing a song, say in the key of C.
Vocal harmonies are fine and resolve with chord changes.

Transpose song to -2
Play song in the key of D. The same as playing in the key of C.
Voicelive 2 is not receiving notes transposed.

Play songs in original key and transpose for my voice which is why I would like this to work.

Anybody got any ideas?

Does the split point on your keyboard change when you transpose?  If so maybe it isn't sending the right notes to Voicelive 2.  Might try running one of the outs on your system to the aux input on the VL2 and let it pick up chords from there and see if that works.  If it does then you know it has something to do with the notes that are being sent or not being sent to VL2.

It doesn't make sense that it would not do this.

Gerard,

Just found this on TC Helicons's Site.  Bummer.....

Harmonizer doesn't respond to key transposition via MIDI

Question

My harmonizer doesn't respond to key transposition on my keyboard. What is going on?

Answer

Apart from note data, there is another, separate MIDI message that is used for transposing - meaning: the notes themselves appear the same but the transposition value is transmitted separately.

TC Helicon units (see list of affected products below) do not respond to that transposition message, unfortunately.

The only workaround would be to set up the transposition, on the harmonizer, as well as your keyboard.

   VoiceLive 2 / VoiceLive 2 Extreme Ed.
   VoiceWorks

   VoicePrism (discontinued)
   VoicePrismPlus (discontinued)

I solved the problem.

Instead of using a USB connection for the SD1000, I am using the MIDI cables.
I go from the MIDI THRU on the SD1000 to the MIDI IN on the Voicelive.

The MIDI messages from the SD1000 are post-processing and contain the correct pitch.

Gerard, Are you saying you cannot use the new usb output of the SD1000 and have to use the old analogue 5 pin THRU midi connections to make your vocalizer  transpose vocal harmony work.
Does this mean that the  USB midi is processing digital midi messages that are different to standard 5 pin midi.

The TC Helicon Vocielive 2 has to have a midi connection to work right.
Initially, I came out of my 88es keyboard and into the harmonizer.
Then I realized, any transposing will not transmit, because it was before I made a transposition.
The connection has to be after vArranger processing.

The SD1000 can use a USB connection or MIDI cable connection, not both.
The solution was to connect a midi cable to the MIDI THRU on the SD1000 and then into the harmonizer.
And Connect a midi cable from the computer to the MIDI IN of the SD1000.

I found that using CHANNEL 4 on the harmonizer, works best.
CHANNEL 4 is LEFT HAND on vArranger.
Even if I do not have a voice selected for LEFT HAND, a MIDI message is sent for the chord played.

Anyway, it works great.
