Anyone using Varranger with Tyros or Genos?
Is it possible to use the Tyros/Genos as is and use Varranger to add 8 real time parts (possibly 9 with the manual bass feature) utilizing the support of 2x16 midi channels?
If it works yamaha styles could be played in Genos/Tyros playing it's 4 real time parts with the possiblity of more real time parts added through Varranger to the other 16 midi channels?
Other than Yamaha styles possible played by Varranger?
Other sound sources could be added controlled by Varranger?

Guess there is some hickup since it sound to good to be true?
For one I would have guessed it's a cumberstone to choose sounds/control effects with sound sources not 100% incorporated in Varranger (I have only tried SD1000)?
Perhaps some hickup in the way Yamaha midi works also?

Didn't Dan get a MODX? Or did I dream that?
Dan, any comments on using Varranger with MODX?

We are waiting.

Great!

Is this including the add on sound packs?
I checked the 100 organ and very few classic organ sounds but much more theatre, and also a lot of the German sound. Personally I hade prefered much more classic organ sounds.

There is a very interessting piano version also. I guees a few of the sounds in the piano version are also in the standard? If so those who get both get some duplicates of sound

I hope it will be included in Varranger. What is the difference with that compared to use the .ins file as is?
Did you compare it to SD1000? Any ideas how styles will compare to SD1000?

By the way. Do you know if there are instrument definition files for the common arranger keyboards to be used with VArranger for some extended funtionallity like more parts or adding also another sound source (I assume these 2 would be possible maybe some more feature too?). As for instance SD7 and SD9, does ketron provide .ins files? Or did you from beginning make it yourself for SD2 and SD1000?
#7
OK.
Do you know if there is any simple program that can be used to send program changes and bank select to analyse this?

Anyone know if there is an instrument definition file to be found for Roland VR-09 and VR-730?
Besides the Drawbar organ, Synth and Panels sounds these contains all sounds, hidden, from the Roland Atelier organs. It would be interesting to use with Varranger, at least for organ players since they have some good organ samples.
If it does not exist can I make this file myself? How?

1. Why do you use Varranger when there is a build in arranger in Wing?
2. Do you run only Varranger (and VST:s) on the Wing or the Wing software to and use them at the same time?
3. Can you control Varranger (and the VST:s) functions with the wing controls like for examples the drawbars?
4. It seems like a really great setup, to say the least, but maybe Wing is a bit expensive alternative to run Varranger!?
5. The external display, is it a mirror of the Wing display? Or extended? Touch?
6. So, it's possible to contact Musicstore and order this Wing with updated hardware? (Though to me it seems a little odd to put in AMD core instead of Intel)
7. Is there any noise form CPU cooling in the Wing?

I'm also waiting to hear all about your interesting setup.

"Improved for VSampler3 and made the version for AUDIGY 2/4/5/Rx.Use sound cards hardware opportunities of the Creative card"

Nobody who knows if they can be used in some way on a laptop without the Audigy sound card?
Some external sound card works?
#12
So you need a Creative Audigy sound card to play these samples?
Is there any solution for laptops?

Today I was into the store and found Surface Pro 2 8GB 256GB for sell out. Much cheaper than half of Pro 3, and much cheaper than any laptop I have been considering, so I bought it. Haven't even unpacked it yet.
But in store I saw cleraly the advantage of Pro 3 screen compared to Pro 2 screen.
However I will test it and if it works well I will decicate it for vArranger but otherwise I will have other use for it.
But first I need to get an USB 3 hub. Guess some other cables also.
#14
Interesting. I remember you had Surface Pro 1 (?).
You still use it with vArranger? Only one USB-port???

Perhaps current Surface Pro 3 works well but a Little bit expensive.

The vArranger² Software Forum / Lenovo Flex 15 Laptop

Do you Think this would be a reasonable choice for dedicated vArranger computer?
http://shop.lenovo.com/se/sv/itemdetails/80FL000QMT/468/7880CBBA8D89432A8A543F2A7EE44FEA
http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/lenovo/flex-series/flex-15/

Seems to be the cheapest 15" laptop I can find with touch and reasonable screen resolution, 8GB and SSD.
15.6" good for vArranger?
Win 8.1 works fine?
Have SD1000 now but how will VST work with laptop? Are there external sound boards that can be connected to laptop to be able to use VST?

Or you Think it's better to buy parts and build a desktop?

Any comments appreciated.

So it's not possible to see what FW you have in SD1000?
#17
Interesting.
What would be some general recommedation to consider for a new computer only for varranger?
Laptop?
Desktop?
Tablet like maybe the coming Surface 3?
What is most important to think of if wanting to use vst?

Ok, I will test this LEFT master track setting in the weekend when I get some time.

I wish I could add a sustain pedal since I have only this knee level which are very very difficult to use.
#19
How do I get sustain for the Left vocie?
I have midi ch1 Right, ch2 Left and ch3 Bass.
I have a knee level, in my organ, for sustain and the abillity to choose for wich parts it should be Active but it only works for Right.
I'm not sure how it works but I assume the CC64 is sent for the parts and corresponding midi channels that are activated for the knee level. If I send CC64 for at ch2 should that not sustain Left? And ch3 the bass?
I really need to be able to choose if sustain only Right or Right and Left (and maybe bass).

Another question. May there be any possibillity to connnect a separeate sustain pedal? This knee level is very difficult to use.
I have a loose Yamaha sustain pedal that once came with a P-80 but of course I have no where to connect it. I quess I would need a midi (USB) sustain pedal but I have never Heard of any.
Any tips would be helpful.

Hi Dan!
I actually happend to stumble over a used SD1000 very cheap some time ago and bought it but don't know of any way to use it. Except for with vArranger.
I'm thinking of what gear I should get. I want organ-like setup, and only play the drum tracks from the arranger and play the rest myself, which is possible but difficult with current range of arrangers from the keyboard manufaturers.
Maybe I should try vArranger on my old Laptop with my old organ and if I like it get a dedicated computer.
Keep up the good work!

What is now happening regarding the SD1000.
Any more work beeing made here or is it the impementation of VST that takes all time?
Is the latest VA version fully compatible with SD1000?
Any VA users who use the SD1000 today?
#22
What sound sources to you use together with Varranger?
SD2, Other or both SD2 and other?
How do you think it works with other sound sources than SD2 or with addon sound sources together with SD2?

So What do you think Dan. Is it better for a new user to still get a SD2 to start with than the newer SD1000?
Or still better to wait some more and see before deciding between SD2 and SD1000?
Is it you intention that VA will get full access to all features of SD1000 as for SD2 even if it will not have full compability with the Ketron styles?
Maybe it's just best to have them both if it will be possible BOTH to stay fully style compatible AND to use the better drums of SD 1000 whenever it's possible and also have an increased total polyphony!
#24
It sounds very good and as I understand probably better support to use with organ than any of the hardware arrangers.
I also found manual here and it's impressive. However I didn't understand if it's possible to set up a registration bank for each song with a couple of registrations in the bank as you can switch between while playing.
I'm very interested and following how it goes with Ketron SD1000. SD2 seems a bit old to buy now. I might consider SD2 anyway since the very low price but hope that in the end everything will work as good with SD1000 with improved sound and polyphony.
One common problem is expression control as some organs only send CC11 at ch16. Is this in any way possible to handle in Varranger to control expression for either all channels or all real time channels?
Or will some kind of external midi processor be needed to remap midi channels for expression?
#25
Can someone please give a simple overview of what Varranger does?
Does it connect to a SD2 and more or less makes it like a SD1?
Is it possible to use it with SD2 as arranger, use sounds from other modules and set this up in a registration?
How many sound can be layered in right respective left?
I would be interested to connect it to an organ that sends upper, lower and bass on midi ch 1, 2 and 3. Is this possible? And play right, left and manual bass and only use drum parts from arranger?

Thanks
