Hi Dan,

How has things been going?

Been a little quite on next release, of lately you have told us what to expect
so far it has been quite, did I miss what is coming?

I have been busy with music as always and enjoy vArranger.

Hope our vArranger community is enjoying the benifits of vArranger as well.

Same song and using SD4.

I probably missed an important point. It is when using the Chord feature that I have an issue.

Ok put it this way,

We have Link function  turned on so instruments change according to variation a - b- c - d

vArranger is playing along and is on A variation and instrument is on Tenor sax
now we are changing to B variation and instrument is still playing Tenor Sax then after a few beats the instrument changes to
Trumpet.

The instrument does not change as soon as variation changes, it goes for a bar then changes - no good
We need instrument to change as soon as variation changes - not a bar later

Thanks

can you read previous post and let me know?

Apparently here in Aussie Land I read that is against the law, that is why I cannot find a two prong adapter,
even from 3 to 2.

Lionel
#160
HI Jan,

Common problem, that ##$$$$ hum/buzz!!

Yes I read alot about that and there appears to be a couple of ways to get rid of it

1. Just as you did-remove earth prong

2. buy something to filter that hum / buzz out

Most go with No.1

I have a DI box which filters 75% but not perfect - because I bought it originally to input guitar to PC

Anybody with good ideas please pass them on - as the DI box still allows some anooying hum/buzz thru
particularly when the PA/Amp system amplifies it up

Hi Dan,

Have been meaning to get you to check this but keep letting it slip my mind.

That is when style change activates the instrument change the change takes nearly a bar to complete.
Meaning when the style changes on 1st beat 1st bar the instrument doesn't change until nearly next bar.

Can this be changed to happen same time as style change.

Yeh I thought the Pizza looked well uhmmm ........sad,  :-[

Did you play violin as well Dan?

You seem to travel quite different than here in Land Down Under, where I pack my gear into my car and travel.

Anyway hope the gig went well.

Lionel
#163
Yes Dan, I discovered all you have mentioned, that's because vArranger is so simple yet complex in itself.

I too date have found it just the answer to allow full relaxation on the playing and people rather than focusing on when to change things.

I very much appreciate the focus on getting this done, not just for me but the vArranger community in whole.

A future addition in my thoughts is having harmonies by selection ;)

Thanks again.

Yes, Instrument for Left and Right up top A - B
The slider for A to B is gone

And Wahoo! Yip! Yip! Yoo! 8)

The sound bar has is own bar for Left and Right instruments ;D

Wee Haa throw a party! :P

Just in time for next gig..

That is all I can pick within 1 minute of opening vArranger

Thanks heaps

Hi Torben,

Can you be more specific when you indicate vArranger being unstable. That word has a very broad meaning.

Please indicate the specfic problem so the developer has focus on the issue rather than flying blind.

For eg, the 1st 5 mins the sounds are garbled when playing any style.

Sorry for being blunt,

Hi Dan,
Not sure if you understand what I meant
.
At the moment you have a Link button that allows the Right instrument set to change when Style Variations change.

Could you allow Instrument No 2 input to have simular feature for Left Instrument that change on Style variation A-B-C-D

In other words to set the Link button to follow Variations for Input 1 or Input 2 or even both.

As I alway use Input 2 for melody playing on midi Guitar and Input 1 is for Chords, etc. on keyboard.

That would be a great function for me.

Thanks

I was considering asking you to add the features I needed to simplify the tasks of entering chords and WHAT you had already done this!!!!!!

Oh thanks man you are wonderful.

And to top it off I was going to ask to if you could add the feature to have the beat follow the chords on the Chord Songs screen and Blow me down you
beat me to it. Ah man, you are just what we need in this world. A Bloody good bloke you are.

Hi Jon,

When you run defrag did you do a analyse 1st, which would tell you percent the disk is fragmented.

If the defrag took 4 plus hours it sure was doing something even if defrag was canceled part way thru it has already done part defrag.

I was using Vista Ultimate before I went to Windows 7. Well that was a big positive for the laptop. (Just a note only)

You can try what Dan said, but it does not correct original problem as you said it was ok until recently, therfore something has changed.
Meaning system is like you mentioned doing background tasks, for example my system if I am running a program and leave it for a few minutes Norton will do a background system scan, to overcome this I make sure it has done this at somepoint in the day before I use it and it knows a system scan has been done for the day and does not do another, if that makes any sense to you.

Another option but can take time is start task manager, and run your program and midi file and switch to task manager and see what processes are running, but as you said you get 3 or 4 an hour you have to catch it at the right time.

The jerks you mention is saying to me something is hogging the system resources momentarily as playing a midifile is very small cpu load.

See how you go and let us know as this may help others at some point in time.

Lionel
#177
Hi Jon,

I use Wireless exclusively on my laptop and have no issues at all.

Playing a midi file uses very little CPU unless it is routed thru VST which changes that dramatically.

For starters have you Defragged your hard drive lately as that can causes so called jerk.

Also if you wanted to test your wireless for possibillty - there should be a function shortcut to switch off rather than disable completly.
Mine is button marked Fn + F2 key

Let us know how it goes

Yes that would be good for newbies and for those who have not found their way around yet.

Time is the problem for me at this point. (Also can't speak any other language)

Anybody who can would be greatly appreciated from the vArranger family.

Hi Jon,

I usually find I am looking for a lot shorter cables USB or midi, because otherwise you have a big pile of bunched up cables around your setup.

And I have a lot of cables connecting my music system to my Laptop and music gear.

I have very short Midi cables 20cm but USB is around 1 to 1.5 M.

For your midi needs you can get custom length cables. One way is to buy the cable length required and midi connectors and solder your own setup. I did that a couple of years ago and length is 5 M, works fine.

Although there is a limit I believe where too long creates a problem..

Judging by your mentioned money you are in UK.

Hi Dan,

Now I have had my break and getting back to a routine, I am examining vArranger a bit closer.

I would like to know what the description and numbers represent.

On each track left side (see attachment)  there are numbers in brackets and description of instrument
I assume the numbers are bank and instrument number.

Is this the case?
Also on double click to sound edit the numbers for bank select is different to above question

Hi Leon,

Happy to see you are getting on with vArranger OK

Lionel
#196
Hi Leon,

There is no need to apologize for any questions whether simple or not, the idea of forums (This one at least) is to help people new, old, beginners, advanced or simply needs the extra guiding hand.

What you have done according to the screen shots is correct.

This is how I use vArranger.
For any new styles according to type or author, I copy the folder with styles straight into vArranger2\vArrangerData\Styles\StylesROM1

The main thing is the folder name is what appears on horizontal bar My Songs. The preface (01) determines the order left to right on My songs bar. If no preface the order is alphabetical after the (00),(01).

There are 2 purposes for My Songs bar that is a) for all styles you may have in vArranger2\vArrangerData\Styles\StylesROM1
                                                                          b) and / or all songs you may have in vArranger2\vArrangerData\Styles\StylesROM1

The songs are done as follow, create a folder name in vArranger2\vArrangerData\Styles\StylesROM1 (I just open explorer find vArranger folder, navigate to StylesROM1 and creat folder there)

for example folder Wedding- Love songs
Run vArranger, find the style to suit your song, select variation, Intro, set volumes, reverbs, chorus, pan, etc
Click on SAVE button, click on Song, rename song to whatever you want in Song Name textbox, select the folder created above (Wedding-Love songs) in Folder dropdown box, select any registration options you want saved with song (Generally all of them) then click SAVE.

When you click on Wedding-Love songs on My Songs bar you will see the song you saved on the left vertical bar. There does not appear to be a limit on songs in left bar or in My Songs bar, but this needs to be within reason, you don''t want 100-200 songs on any one button.

NOTE: Finding a style altering parameters and renaming does not alter orginal style, providing you simply rename it, and of course not the same name as any existing ones in that folder.

************ One Important thing is that the above does not yet work for Yamaha styles only Ketron styles, but this is very near to being done (Dan is busy on this feature)*********************

The LOAD button, as I use, is for example you have styles located outside of the vArranger2\vArrangerData\Styles\StylesROM1
folder and you want to play, listen to or whatever to these styles.

This applies to Midi files, MP3.

By the way you can put a folder on My Songs bar called MIDI Songs or whatever you like and select it and play any midi files from left side bar that is in that folder.

The search feature just above My Songs bar is simply that search for any song but on in vArranger2\vArrangerData\Styles\StylesROM1. You may have 100 folders in there and search will find what you type from in there.

Boy, I have said enough to sound like a teacher, but I am glad to help when and where needed.

Regards
Lionel

Here are 2 chosen at random for drum setting

Chipmunk 05 the bass drum is too loud
Christmas Waltz 07 the Clap/Fx is yuky and loud

If the drum settings were able to be saved that would solve the problems
There are plenty of songs like that.

Thanks Dan,

I have found a program to allow me to change most things in Yamaha styles which reflect in vArranger.
It still is not the best way but works, the biggest issue now is I cannot alter the drum volumes for each part eg. bass drum, snares, etc.

On some styles the drums parts sound clacky due to volume differences. Altering manually improves things but cannot save and most styles needs altering every song, everytime it loads.

Well there it is, drum alterations seems to be major issue at this stage.

I hope you may have a solution or know of a program to allow yamaha drum part changes until you have added the addition to vArranger.

Have found some good  yamaha Christmas styles if anyone wants them

Thanks
Lionel

Hi Leon,

Hi Prado,

Welcome to the forum.

For my 2 cents worth in a quick reply.

I own BIAB latest version 2010.5 which in itself is good and tailored towards playing backing music with no input from you and you play whatever part your chose, normally melody.
In live enviroment it is ok but you have to follow strict pattern guide for example ABAABC ending or  whatever the song format and not really changeable in a true sense when playing live.

vArranger load song with a preset Intro hit any keyboard chord and away it goes, change any chord with your left while playing, change any style variation while playing repeat song anywhere at will and when finish hit a ending and yep song done.

Also change any instrument volume on the go and also any instrument itself while playing.
vArranger current purpose is playing live but not limited too.

That is my opinion only because that is how we use it.

The user Interface is very user friendly for live playing yet suprisingly very versitile.
I am not saying this because I have any benifit from it, which I don't, but because it does a bloody good job for what it was designed for.

Yes a Ketron module is it's prime output goal but not limited too. I currently am playing around routing to JABB3 for certain instuments.

With varranger you either have a purpose for it or you don't.

The programmer certainly listens to my needs and prompt to act on them, of course within reason and in best interest.

I hope I have given some info and glad to answer any questions on a users point of view.

Hi Dan,

I know you are working at changing what is required, but as I can only find Xmas styles in Yamaha format
and as I can't save any songs as yet I would like to know if this will be done very soon so I can get some christmas songs together.

Being able to change the drum settings made a big improvment and will this be ready. :-[

Sorry if I am pushing, but Christmas is nearly here.

Good Work Dan,

I am still having issues with Drums not sounding on SD4.

Regardless if I use Output 1 or Output 2 - SD4 or MIDI2 I cannot get drums to SD4 module.

Anybody else have this issue, then I know whether it is SD4 or not.

Lionel
#210
I noticed that we can't save any songs with Yamaha styles yet, is that still in the pipeline?

I have a problem with drums not sounding on SD4 using output No.2

This doesn't seem to happen on all styles.

Using SD2 and SD4 together, the SD2 has a deeper sound, but the SD4 sounds cleaner.

Saving of output channels, are we able to have output channels saved per song, also to be able to save default
startup config for channel output.

Lionel
#211
Thanks Dan,

Will give it a run, a few gigs are piling up on the doorstep.

Lionel
#212
Hi Dan,
Yes I have noticed that. I am using Garitan JABB3 and was getting some unusal sounds.

I am still experimenting with different options to date.

I believe my SD2 crash of late is related to using Yamaha styles, I made sure I had SD2 set whether I used it on
Output 1 or tried output2.

I found that with using Garritan JABB3 I could route the midi out from SD4 into JABB3, that means I had SD4 Output 1, SD2 output 2 and JABB3 had midi out from SD4 (Not using midi cable just internal selection). That was 3 modules for sound output.

Lionel
#213
Hi Dan,
Runs like a dream

Only problem is I get SD2 crashes but SD4 fine, not all the time just here and there.

Another thing, how do I stop the yamaha styles defaulting to it's internal values after I change volume. It just returns to it's
original volume after a few seconds.

Otherwise it is great.

Man we are on a roll or rather vArranger is on a roll.

Thanks Dan

Lionel
#214
Hi Dan,

Just so that I am on the right track.

That's good news, hopefully it is not far away, getting itchy fingers.

Also recieved my SD4 and yes there is a noticeble sound difference. To my ears it sounds more crispy.

When version .92 is ready then I can test side by side the SD2 and SD4.

Has the yamaha styles been fixed to allow Endings, etc to be used and saved.

Couldn't help noticing your floor pedals look like mouse controls.

Does the SD2 have precedent over SD4 or was it just convenience for this gig.

Yes dual keyboards is the thing for a lot of people, as for me its identical keyboard, midiguitar.

Saw James morrison concert last night, man he is good, his quartet did a song at 400 beats a minute yes 4 big hundred beats a minute. Whew! :o

Hi Dan,
I actually thought that was what you ware going to do, that is each track/instrument has the option of going to Output1 or Output 2

That would allow greater flexibilty to get best sound required for each track/instrument

Much the same as the input variations. So therefore you could send your drums and bass and guitar to Output 2 and the others to output 1.

Output 1 is sent to SD2 and Output 2 is sent to another module like SD4 or to VST module

Lionel

As expected mine crashed as well.

I played the midifile once ok, played it again straight away and crash, blue light went out as well.

Did this 3 times and same result each time, except blue light doen't always go out but still crashed.

Dan, this is the same problem all along, with crashes.

The vArranger² Software Forum / Re: Controller Keyboards
September 04, 2010, 02:54:03 AM
Recieved our Roland PCR800 the other day.

1st Thoughts was, humm bit small than expected, well that was because the Casio Privia is no a small keyboard being 91 keys I think, also a  lot longer and way heavier than the Roland.

After understanding how to set my controllers I set up to vArranger the whole 50 of them. Could do with a few more to cover some of the vArranger ones available, (just greedy here ;D)

The keybed feel quite different because the Casio was weighed keys and felt like a piano where the Roland is of course organ/keyboard like. With the roland having 12 velocity settings available.

So far so good with the only real setback was that we had 3 pedal for Casio now we have none. Back to using fingers for Variation/Fill changes :'(

Having the major volumes changes at finger tip is going to be very handy, not to mention Dan's new Song (Next - Previous) function, very handy too.

Anybody need any more info feedback, just give me a yell (not to loud please) ::)

Yes Dan,

You make me smile when I see you fixing, adding, improving vArranger.

I am extremely happy I had purchased vArranger after your gentle persuations.

Anybody who reads this topic I thoroughly recommend vArranger as we have a developer who continually works with his users to fulfill their desire to have a fully functioning but very usable program.

Thank you Dan  ;)

Yes, the Nano Controller works fine, it is compact and sits on end of keyboard.

Had no trouble at all with it.

Yes will test. Had gig yesterday, things went lovely as previous changes made life a lot easier.

Still not keen on Font sizes mate. Just looks a bit big for me. Might have to take my Mr Magoo glasses off ;D

Can we have option for font size or is that too much.
Maybe option box normal font and large font.

Anybody else think or am I just fussy!

Hi Dan,
Thanks for the update.

One thing, I don't particularly like the Big Fonts mainly for left side bar as they look out of place also you can't type many letters before it sits on the top or bottom of the button and obscured

I hope I am not offending you but I didn't like that.
Maybe I have to wear it if others need big fonts or maybe you can have an option choices in setup for normal or bigger font size.

Apart from that great work mate.

Hi Chaps (Ladies if any) :P

We use triple pedal setup on our keyboard (Part of our keyboard setup) which is linked to Variation, A-B-C  when pressed does a fill and changes to variation selected.

Works beautifully.

Except it will now be different because we have added a Roland PCR800 and will be selling the Casio.

Hopefully the Roland will live to my expectations.

It has 50 midi assignable controllers, which of course will find it use in vArranger.
Hope to get it before week-end. Where it will get its use the very next day.

Anybody else have one or hopefully good knowledge about it

Hi chaps,

Everyone has valid points, taste,etc.

If you never change anything mp3, yes, but when you change things, midi, yes.

I guess it is down to what you are comfortable with. With MP3, if you have got it down to good mixing and recording, then go for it. Otherwise others use midi and change at will on the go.

To date I have preferred midi but that can change anytime.

If Dan chooses to implement one or the other or both that is his choice as he is developer, having said that he also has to satisfy his customers to their needs.

Hi Bernie,

It's lovely to see you entertaining the older generation ( I know you are nearly there yourself  ;)).
We play at retirement villages mainly, play mainly old tunes from 1920 to 1970 era, they the oldies love to hear these old tunes.

We mainly play instrumental with minor singing but that will change soon as my wife is getting better with her singing. I play the melodies with my midi guitar with instruments to suit.

As far as I am aware if you save a track with zero volume it will load as zero volume (much the same as muted track)

I have not looked into tranpose yet ( on vArranger  )but will have a look myself as to what goes.

I am particularly interested in harmonies set and saved with vArranger, that will soon come when Dan is ready..

Had a look at your uTube songs, good on yah mate!

Happy playing & singing

Bernie - Dan

Hi Bernie,
I don't think Dan is resting for 1 minute (look he just come back from holidays 8) - hiding from us ??? - I bet he had vArranger on his mind though ::))

When you talk about saving muted tracks, why can't you just save vArranger tracks you want muted with volume on nil - wouldn't that be the same as muted tracks? or am I missing the point?

The transpose bit, is it that you want to load a song and transpose to a particular key to suit voice?
and then save afterwards?

Can I ask how do you use as a Karoke player - never really had much to do with such, what do you do and how? that is with a program like vArranger.

Hi Dan,
Hope you had a lovely holiday, didn't ask if I wanted to go :'(

Hi Dan,

As someone who explores and researches I have come across the issue when I open any style from vArranger that I have into Style Works or even in another program that edits Ketron styles is says it is not a Ketron style.

I had a couple of the same styles sent to me that are supposely genuine and they open in any of these programs.

What is your view here.

Hi Brian,

Thanks for your Demo.

Do you play for the oldies?

I noticed a simular problem that I would like to point out, that is at around 1min 30sec on your demo there is a slight glitch where you changed chords from one to another and due to timing of change it sounded out. Here is where I would like to see if Dan can find a fix if possible or is that just something that players have to be aware of.

Dan, can you post a response here as I find this an issue. (My wife does this at times - do I need to slap her fingers with a ruler  >:(  ;D can there be something done to help) :'(

Hi Dan,
The Tenor Sax sounds marvelous, so does a few of the Drawbars, also to mention the Golden Trumpet which sounds great. So having said that yes Latin has a great sound so using above instruments to a latin sound, my 20cents or peso or Pounds depends where you live mate. ::)

Lionel
#263
Yes Dan, Yeah it does, don't know why I responded like I did without verifying those thoughts.

I think I just responded out of the blue to when you said ....

The only thing to be carefull now, is that you have to press the FILL IN in TIME, at the moment you want it to start. Because it usually play a chord, at this moment.

That is what I was refering too. You should be able to play a chord, trigger a fill and new style (into a buffer) while completing current chord before it changes to new chord. ----or maybe not - I am guitar lead player not keyboard- my wifes department ::)

Lionel
#264
Thanks Dan

All part of understanding for us all exactly what each feature does.

Lionel
#265
Hi Dan,
Is it better if vArranger, say the beat is 3rd beat into bar and you push fill that it would finish playing bar then fill would start, other words it would go into a buffer to play next, so if you were playing G chord on A style and it is on the 3rd beat and you trigger a fill and then say B style it would complete G chord A style goes to fill and the onto B style. These could have a little light or flashing button to say it is in que to play next.

Only ideas to make it more usable in my opinion only.

Lionel
#266
Hi Dan,
About search feature, yes I reckon you should have the ability to search what you are looking for not just everything in folders, as that can get quite big later. Yes to search only midi or style or mp3/wav,etc

Maybe, radio button for each type or tick boxes, ideas?

Lionel
#267
Hi Dan,
Not sure if I have come across such a feature. Yes, it will be very handy if the midi file has blank bars at beginning, for those who do not know how to edit midi files.

I have yet to use many midi files in vArranger, but I have plans too, as some songs have that arrangement that is unique that some styles are not there, also changing of beats within styles, etc.

So that we all are aware, just what can vArranger do with midi files apart from play them.

Maybe you could put such info as stickies on forum so visible to others without having to search.

Dan,
Could you add to search feature the ability to search either Songs or Styles.
I mean if your searching Styles you don't want to see all the songs cluttering the list, and same for songs you don't want to be confused as to what is the style and what is song.

Hi All,
Does anybody find that when loading a new style (One that has not been altered and saved previously)that the volumes of Guitar, Strings and Drums sound loud and out of place.
I realize that all Amps,PA's are different but each one of us is using the SD2 we should have similar sound volumes.
Having said that, does anyone have that special sound worked out thru the use of volume, reverb, chorus, etc.

Now that is where the swapping of knowledge and sounds come in. I believe the designer of this program (Dan) is working on such a swap between users?

Feedback, anybody? :)

Thanks,
Lionel
#278
Hi Chaps,

I agree with Bernie as the biggest drawback is when loading a song, you have to reset that sounds you are chasing with the different instruments. Hopefully this is just around the corner.

Lionel
#279
Bernie,
I don't think there is any lead man just greatful helpers assisting Dan.
Your input will be of great value into shaping this manual for all to understand. As far as I m concerned, we do a section each and then we help each other to shape the contents into meaningful words for end user.
Otherwords, say I write about connecting inputs, you can read and give constructive comments about it. You do the same and I will read yours and give input about it, etc.
First up we need to start on the very basics of vArranger2. Dan we need your guidance here mate.

Hi Dan,
Yes looks (GUI) influences the end user because if he does not like how it looks he is already BIASed into thinking it performs how it looks.
Also how the eye catches things when playing live, helps with what you are trying to do.

Ok, I will put up my hand to help in the manual since I am asking.
Fire away when ready and lets work it out. 8) ;D

We can tackle it a bit at a time, eh?

Hi Dan,
Love the cosmetic changes, quite like it.

One thing is that I either had a good sleep or the vArranger seems to have a good sound going thru SD2.

Did you change some things or is it just me. :-\

The vArranger² Software Forum / Re: Drawbars
May 09, 2010, 12:55:40 AM
Hi Bernie,
My wife is a organ lady and has played for a number of years. She was glad that SD2 and vArranger had that organ sound!
Only drawback at present is no bass pedals. It marvels me to see her with one hand upper keyboard, another lower keyboard, left foot for bass note and right foot for volume control.

She is born and breed on organ and when she played for dance, weddings, etc her father carted this big Lowery around for her to play. Now we have a smaller organ (not talking about mine) :P it is still not practical to cart around anymore.

So SD2 with its sounds and vArranger opens another door.

Good work Dan ;)

Lionel
#287
Hi Guys,
Maybe a bit unlrelated here but to let you know that I have One USB connection for GI20 Guitar midi, another USB fo CASIO Privia keyboard and a third USB in for KORG Kontrol and a USB out for SD2.

That is I have GI20 in one port and a USB hub on another with CASIO privia in, and KORG Kontrol in, also on same hub USB out to SD2 via Edirol UM1-EX .
I have a third USB port that I use for UA-25 External sound card.

Played for Mother's Day function yesterday and all went like clockwork, no hiccups. Had songs in a couple of folders on side bar and retrieved quickly and effortlessly. Only drawback was if I used another voice with my midi guitar I had to select manually.

And Dan the 3rd Input worked perfect. 8)

Lionel
#288
In response to Bernie, yes as players using vArranger we need to ask ourselves what do we do with this as we play and what do we need to do rather than what can we add to vArranger but may never use it.

Lionel
#289
Thanks Dan.
There is nothing worst than to lay in bed at night trying to go to sleep but your mind wonders over things in your mind, but you want a good nights sleep so you can feel fresh to work and think properly. We as a vArranger community need to remember you are a solo program designer here and doing one hell of a good job, and should not pressure you into getting things done in a hurry.

I rather a program with fewer features that work properly than one loaded with features, has bugs and you don't know where the hell what you are looking for. Particularly using as a live playing tool.

It is great you are listening to our needs. :'(

Lionel
#290
Hi Guys,
Yes Bernie right on, I have numbered my controller to corespond to my sounds bar but at times you need to count which one you want so numbers would go a long way.

Thanks Dan to responding to our needs.

Lionel
#291
Hi Dan,
Yes I have started using other instruments with my lead and lowering the volume to suit. It really brings some body into the song. My wife generally plays organ - string instruments and because we play with different dynamics etc, she plays some string chords. Allows me to improvise a little with the melody.

In good time it will be great to save my choices with volume settings for each song. We all need to be patient and allow timely advancements to vArranger and not have you overworked and stressed ???

Regards
Lionel
#292
Hi Dan,
Unless I have missed something somewhere there is no saving of Instruments for Left 1,2 & 3 and for Right 1,2 & 3.
I know some intruments are layered but if you add your own to a song you can't save for Left1,2,3 and Right 1,2,3.

Lionel
#293
Hi Dan,
I already knew that SD2 was completly midi only and I was basically questioning why an MP3 on vArranger which was primarily geared towards SD2 but I see your reasoning of expanding vArranger past just SD2 and midi, which I think is a great idea.

Anyway, any knew idea that is usable is a great idea. ;D

Regards
Lionel
#294
Hi Dan,
I thought so, we can use some good Mp3 and play sd2 with it. Sometimes getting good MP3 setup to song is not easy not like the versatility of midi.

Lionel
#295
Hi Dan,
I prefer if a new file format was used to combine style and parameters and leave orginal style untouched because sometimes you changed instruments and whatnot and never remember the orginal. A single file to represent song and style and I agree with Bernie too messy with 2.

Lionel
#296
Hi Dan,
That's a fair reason.

Now my question is, using MP3 is digital based music and SD2 is midi signals only, therefore using MP3 files is using an underlying MP3 player via soundcard not via SD2 or did I miss something. :-\ ???

Regards
Lionel
#297
Hi Dan,
Does this concept only work for MP3 or will it work for midi files as well.

Lionel
#300
Hi Dan,
Lovely to see the new features, great concept.
I have just returned from holidays myself, played at large retirement village and event went beautiful. The oldies had us playing nonstop for 2.5 hrs instead of the 1 hour planned event. They just loved the sounds and of course the memories of the old songs. Last time I played there I was using Band In A Box and was told the best they heard for a long time - but this time it was better than ever, because we used vArranger and gave us what they wanted to hear. On the playing side I had control, vArranger gave me the control I needed, whether volume of this up or down, song to suit mood, the only real problem was setting playing instrument to song - but now the beta version I have has fixed this - testing now.

Ok Dan only suggestion to date is on selecting a new song the My Sounds bar remains the same - could it be unique for every song. What I am saying is when selecting a song your main instrument loads and your favorites are also loaded - which are instruments you want to use during playing. It may not suit others, opinions please. Example I might be playing country style and use suitable instruments, then switch to say jazz and have suitable instruments in favorites for that to select at button click?

What do you think?

Regards
Lionel
