There is no need to register genos2 or anything else, and the files produced are in standard genos format.
I tested the software in about 5 minutes and it also allows fully automatic processing, which needs to be refined.
The results, for an automatic processing, are surprising; logically, to do a job well done you have to do some fine tuning, but in my opinion this software will allow the creation of a few thousand new styles and will make many of you happy.

Unfortunately also Ezkeys 2 is only vst3

is there any news on VST3 protocol developments in the software?
Yesterday Halion 7 came out and was only distributed on VST3 and the latest versions of Kontakt were also only distributed on VST3.
Using a non-native vst 'bridge' complicates things even more and involves a very laborious and time-consuming level of fine-tuning, certainly much more so than with a native host.
At this point I would say that the implementation of VST3 starts to become rather necessary.
Any chance of seeing it implemented?

Hi, the discussion is very interesting, sorry if I write in English but I wanted to give my opinion.
Dan's sound banks are great for backing parts; I find mainly electric guitars weak (and some other less important sound), and something should be done there (I play a lot of pop ballads and "solid guitar" type guitars do not perform as they should), for this we must intervene "in support" with external sounds (by the way, couldn't you resample the distorted / clean guitars of the genos?).
There are many free and paid vst's that can help, for example I tried halion which has some pretty neutral sounds to use in styles. Of course, a style with specific VSTs for bass, drums and guitar totally changes the groove and makes it much more like a real band.
For lead vocals I only use vst sounds, the sampled vsmpl sounds seem rather "synthetic" for non-accompaniment parts.
Unfortunately, a compromise must be found between system stability, sound compatibility and instrumentation cost.
The sf2 soundfont that can be found on the net have never completely satisfied me, there are some very good ones, but I have never found a level equal to a professional keyboard.
A help can then be given by the vst master (I use reviber2 which "widens" the sounds a bit).
With these compromises and "combinations" of sounds in my opinion the performance is not very different from a professional keyboard (this is the feedback I received on the videos I made); then, of course, more and more could be done: I have already asked Dan about the possibility of improving the variability of the live performance, for example with the introduction of multipads or something similar that allows to make the styles less monotonous.
My experience is given by the almost daily use of vArranger (Dan knows it well, I stressed it very well ).

By the way, Dan, do you think we can think about implementing multipads in the future? For live players this option is very interesting, because it allows you to vary your performance and make it always different. What do you think? Well Dan, I like it a lot.

I like the semi-weighted keys, they are great for piano, but you could use also for synth/organ, they're not too heavy.

Good quality also for pads, knobs, fades and the chassis. They give a solid feeling.

Unfortunately, I have not yet been able to get the feedback LED to work. 

I'd like to change name and program change assignment (for VST).

I tried feedback on all the MAUDIO MIDI ports (every combination of values between midi in 1-4 and midi out 1-4) but I could not get led feedback.

Piccolo aggiornamento: dopo qualche mese di prove l'unico problema che ho riscontrato è stato ogni tanto un pò di lag. La soluzione è la seguente: collegare il tablet al pc creando un hotspot dal pc stesso.

In questo modo qualsiasi lag scompare e va senza alcun problema.

Yes, you could assign vSynth with yamaha genos soundbank on midi out1 and your host on midi out >1.

So you could use genos soundbank for accompaniment sounds and your host for right hand sounds.

No, my SD2 lies in a drawer. For accompaniment I use the Dan/Magali's soundbanks. I own all 4 but for a long time I only use the yamaha (genos) one.

Hi Pino, nice sounds for the price. The quality is more or less similar to halion. I think it could be a really nice solution for right hands sounds as Halion!

I read that there are also articulations on sounds.

p.s.: A complex job, but results are not so different from genos. Considering that there are more than 2000 euros of difference ... and absence of obsolescence

Hi Leo, tks. Tyros 4 styles usually have a drum mapping that uses the first two octaves of the GM drum kit. They therefore do not require editing. T5 and genos instead follow other mappings and then you have to modify either the kit or the track

Vi segnalo che da qualche tempo sto utilizzando vArranger con spacedesk --> https://spacedesk.net/. Sostanzialmente un'app che permette di estendere lo schermo del pc ad altri dispositivi via wireless (rete interna o creata ad hoc).
Io sto usando come client un tablet android, ma può essere usata su molti altri dispositivi, oltretutto con la possibilità di collegare più schermi:

Per i fader meglio usare qualcosa di fisico, ma per i pulsanti è perfetto. Lo preferisco a soluzioni tipo touchosc così si riesce a vedere anche i feedback del programma, il nome dei preset, ecc...

I made some tests and I think that's a problem also on program change messages on VST>1, not only a display issue.

Riporto anche qua questa nota (anche se credo che gli utenti italiani l'abbiano già letta da altre parti):
giricchiando sul forum psrtutorial (cito la fonte, l'autore del file è l'utente "SnowThief") mi sono imbattuto in questo pdf.
Tante volte, provando i vari factory styles della genos (che utilizzo su vArranger), mi sono chiesto: ma questo style su quale pezzo è costruito?
Alcuni sono di facile lettura, altri invece magari incuriosiscono.
Vi riporto in allegato una lista, presa dal forum in questione, che riporta per ogni style la canzone su cui è costruito.
Lo stesso style poi, logicamente, può essere utilizzato per molte altre (ci sono una miriade di music finder in giro), ma mi sembra utile e interessante avere una base "originale" di riferimento.

Fa da compressore, "enhancer" e altro. Secondo me migliora e rende il suono più "spaziale" e profondo.

La configurazione di default mi sembra buona, senza necessità di ulteriori modifiche.

Magari se lo provate anche voi, mi fate sapere cosa ne pensate?

Ciao, condivido con voi una cover suonata con vArranger, soundbank, vst e compagnia varia.
Una novità è che il software è comandato oltre che dai tasti "fisici" della novation (ovvero da relativi comandi midi configurati) anche da tablet android con l'app touchosc e layout che ricalca la schermata del software (presa dal thread relativo); l'app in questione è davvero customizzabile.

Ne approfitto per fare di nuovo i migliori auguri a tutti, confidando in un nuovo anno davvero migliore di questo (e non è che ci voglia molto, direi...).

Lo stile è il 12-8PopBallad standard della categoria POP della genos.

- I go on RIGHT2 and select a sound (PIANO2 of VaSynth, MIDI OUT 1)
- Then SAVE --> RIGHT SOUND as TEST1
- If I select another SOUND without RIGHT2 than I select again TEST1 I see the instrument on RIGHT2

Just to try, I have made the same on 2ND VOICE. In this case the sound from VST is correctly saved.

So the problem is only on RIGHT2-3-4.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong?

I have a problem every time I save a SOUND with RIGHT2-3-4 from VST (every one go to --> VSTxx).

I have a sound from VSTxx on RIGHT1. And it's ok.

I select a sound from VST with SOUND EDIT -> PROGRAM CHANGE on RIGHT2-3-4.

Then (RIGHT2-3-4) SELECT TO MIDI OUT --> VST xx

Then SAVE --> RIGHT SOUND

Then if I recall the SOUND from MY SOUNDS or from the SOUND LIST I get only RIGHT1. RIGHT2-3-4 don't have the vertical indication of the SOUND names at the left of the sliders and not send the program change to the VST and not play.

But if I make the same, but I select on RIGHT2-3-4 the SOUND from SEND TO MIDI OUT --> VaSynth (for example a SF2 sound or a sound from a soundbank) the RIGHT2-3-4 is correctly saved.

So is the problem with VST?

Is it quite strange... or not?

I use vArranger with soundbanks, soundfonts and vst. The best results are not "plug & play" but at the moment I wouldn't exchange it for any other arranger.

* Having a powerful computer you can use the best sounds around for the solo parts (better than arranger ones) using vst's with midi program/control changes
* Dan's soundbanks emulate the top of the range in terms of rhythm and you can import thousands of styles, for the most part perfectly functional.
* it does not suffer from obsolescence being an "open" system
* You can connect up to 4 midi controller, virtual midi controllers like touchosc, or physical ones like keyboards, launchpads or whatever
* You can save an unlimited number of configurations each consisting of style, 20 sounds, effects, etc ...
* You can enhance effects and master output with vst
* Using multiple screens you can link pdf to each song

In my case, the only limit is the lack of time; had I had such a powerful tool 20 years ago, I would have enjoyed it as hell.

Then, of course, some things can be improved, but once a year Dan pulls out some interesting news from his hat (at a fair price), considering the absence of obsolescence.

Dan's fault is probably that he's not a flimflam man, if he hired a "marketing and communication manager" the software would be much more widespread and there would be "glossy" videos on youtube.

can you help me with this strange behavior?

I had installed Halion on the VST 10 and occasionally saved the "startup config" both as a bank and preset.
At some point I started having a "vasynth error" when loading varranger.

To be able to use again the program I worked on the file vArranger2.ini and
I have deleted the data in the fields
VST10=
VSTControl10=
VSTControlInvert10=
VSTControlSwitch10=
VSTFX1_10=0
VSTFX2_10=0
VSTFX3_10=0
VSTChl10=
VSTTopMost10=

So Varranger started correctly without Halion.


At this point I tried to load halion back on the VST10. I went out, started varranger again and continued to have vaSynth blocking error.

I deleted the reference to halion again on the varranger.ini fields and tried to load halion on the VST11. So I had no more errors, even exiting and reopening vArranger.


So it would seem that, despite removing the data from vArranger.ini, the VST10 "keeps in memory" something related to Halion's old configuration (default saves?).

How can I solve it?

(Halion standalone doesn't give any kind of problem)

I make an implementation request which I think shouldn't be particularly complex. I realize that having some other "my sounds" I wouldn't mind. I use a PC keyboard to select program changes and being able to assign quick selection commands to multiple sounds would be useful. Maybe two pages of "my sounds"? or the possibility to assign specific "pc key controls" to sounds (from the list on the right) to select them? Do I only have this need?

I'll show you my setup in the picture.
I remember that you can connect n pc keyboards to the pc via usb. My pc has two pc keyboards.

Just to share my work, I find this solution to have everything under control.

I have mapped all function keys (and some knobs and sliders) of my launchkey as controllers (some of them as vst controls, some as control changes) and almost all keys of a second keyboard connected to pc as program changes and control changes (and to other basic usage of control).

So my pc (i5, 16gb of ram, uca202 as soundcard) has two keyboard (connected to two usb ports), one for pc usage, one for varranger control.

I share also a photo.

Regarding the hands, it's quite difficult, if i record with smartphone from speakers sounds are not good.
I prefer to record the mp3 from the software and create a video from that.

do you ever use youtube (for example to study) while you're using vArranger?

is there a way to use it?

If I'm using vArranger I don't get audio from youtube video (and don't play).

Is there a solution with some audio configuration or the solution is: get the audio from smartphone?

Unfortunately not, neither with other PC (in which I had vArranger). Out of vArranger I haven't this problem. Since I've connected to an amplifier I bypass the problem, thinking that was I that I had some bad configuration on ASIO driver or other... and I did't want to reinstall all vst's and other

I am using Reviber (http://www.vst4free.com/free_vst.php?plugin=Reviber&id=3021 - freeware),
with excellent results regarding the "amplitude" of the sound.
Which one do you use?
To give more amplitude and depth of sound (and to remove any random distortions)?

Lot of them are perfect, some of them need to be edited (volumes), few of them don't sound good (the same of bk-7 that don't sound good). (like Real Band: "Unplugged Ballad" - Dan, is it a problem of the style or is there a bad conversion?).

just a question. I'm using now kontakt as vst with some samples in a multi (+or- 30 gb of samples). It takes some minutes (6-8 minutes) to load "restore parameters". Some hints to reduce the loading time? Default save is better as "preset" or "bank"?

just to share with you some info.

I've all soundbanks from Dan, a ketron SD2 and some VSTs (from friends and second hand market).

Soundbanks from Dan are great for styles sounds but for "SOLO" sounds I'd like more expression.

So in my experience I've found that my best choice for SOLO sounds are:

PIANO: Ketron SD2
E-Piano: VST Xpand2
Organ+Hammond: VST Xpand2 + Ketron SD2
Acoustic - classic guitar: VST Ample Guitar or some SF2
Electric Guitar: kontakt+strawberry
Sax: Ketron SD2
Strings: Ketron SD2 + VST Xpand2
Other brass and accordion: Ketron SD2

Too heavy? Maybe. 8 gb of RAM occupied.

There are two problems in this setup:
1. SD2 sounds are routed in midi output2 so I have to save each sound of the ketron expander as a preset sound - (please Dan, let see all sd2 sounds in suond list also if they are in VST2  )
2. switching between xpand2 preset is a really a mess. save some of them as vst preset. click on VST, click on Xpand2 and click the preset. In LIVE playing is a bit difficult. But this is a know problem!

I think that there is a false problem. Dan asks money for intermediate updates (as a prerelease ) and not for the big update (sum of the prereleases).
And I think it's more like a donation to support.
The release of the big update (1.20-1.21...) will be free.

could you check? in unplugged ballad 1 and 4, desert shuffle, serenade and some others, in variation A, I have only a light sound of drum.

Found solution with sd2 .ins file. Sounds must be save individually as user voices.

Hello! I write my question here without disturbing Dan in private. I took the 4 soundbanks and they sound really good on the styles. But for solo sounds I would prefer to use the ketron sd2 because I like the way the sound comes out (and I also have more variety).
If I associate the vAsynth as midiout1 and select "usb midi cable" + ketron sd 2 as midiout2 I don't see the ketron sounds in the voices list but only the soundbanks sounds. Should I load the ".ins" file?
Doing the opposite is very inconvenient, because I should remap the sounds of each styles (a huge job) on midiout2 to leave the ketron sd2 on midiout1.
Is anyone in the same situation as me?

io lo utilizzo con novation launchkey 61 (ha tutti i tasti assegnabili via midi) e sd2. la potenza "infinita" ottenuta dall'aggiunta di sf2 e vst mi ha permesso di aggiungere altre chitarre (quelle dell'sd2 mi convincono un pò a metà).

Per il resto i suoni dell'sd2 sono molto realistici e non credo serva altro.

Oltretutto giochicchiando con i reverberi, ecc... credo si possano migliorare molto (senza dover corrier dietro a chissà quale novità o fare collezione di tasti bianchi e neri dentro casa, già ho una solton ms 100 a prendere polvere)

voi quali altri suoni usate? altri sf2? vst?

Bisogna che tra utenti italiani facciamo gruppo  , magari per consigli, soluzioni, trucchetti, spartiti... già siamo pochini... oltretutto io più passa il tempo più sono soddisfatto di questo arranger virtuale, mi ha fatto riprendere la voglia di suonare e magari (ad avere il tempo) sperimentare un pò... 20 anni fa ci si limitava ai 100 stili della solton, ormai ne conoscevo ogni passaggio a memoria...
ho provato anche a collegarci la solton, ma l'assegnazione dei tasti non è malleabile come la novation, oltretutto quest'ultima è leggerissima, entra in una scrivania occupando pochissimo spazio, e per chi non fa questo come lavoro è davvero un grande vantaggio!

volevo provare alcuni suoni presi da bs-16i soundfonts (in particolare di chitarra, in alternativa all'SD2, le cui chitarre sono un pò "mosce"), quindi:
1. metto il file nella cartella vArrangerData\Sounds\SAMPLES
2. ho selezionato varranger software synt come midi out 2 (con GM2)
3. cliccando su INS&SF2 mi carica la schermata che trovate in allegato con le chitarre "ai primi posti"

Come faccio a farle suonare?

Se seleziono in una RIGHT VOICE il MIDI OUT2 non mi suona. Cosa sto sbagliando? Come posso fare?

I have correctly sounds from all other from ketron sd2 (by soundcard audio input)

After a while I took Kontakt's 'factory library'. I was able to configure varranger to send the signal to the vst but, although I see that it is received by vst (the midi channel is correct, it is 15, I only use the right3 as a vst solo instrument), I can not hear audio despite the vst seems produce it graphically. What should I do? Which output should be configured in kontakt?

What's the fastest mode to switch between bank sounds and vst? For example, I'm playing a song with piano but I want to play a guitar solo with a vst from kontakt. How I switch fast to this sound?

Sono anni che lo monitoro (sono iscritto al forum dal 2016) e alla fine mi sono deciso dopo averci pensato a lungo... l'ho comprato!

Sto aspettando la licenza e non vedo l'ora di metterci le mani (e di confrontarmi con gli altri amici italiani!)

lo userò con una solton ms100 e una novation launchkey e, come modulo, un sd2!

Vorrei poi agganciarci dei vst (più che altro chitarre acustiche - elettriche) dato che quelle dell'sd2 non mi piacciono e nei pezzi "solo" vorrei provare ad usare suoni esterni. Spero di riuscirci...
