Just a follow up on my little project.
I have installed a Roland Studio Capture audio interface that gives me 10 simultaneous recording channels into Cakewalk Sonar.
So, using 2 computers, I can record VArranger as follows:-
Tracks 1 & 2 Midi Out 1 Internal Sound Bank for Drums
Tracks 3 & 4 Midi Out 2 Ketron SD1 for all of the Accompaniment Voices
Track 5 Midi Out 3 Separate Roland 06 Keyboard For Bass.

Setting VArranger up with the correct midi outputs for the different channels and Saving "Start Up" memorizes the configuration for when I call up a different style.
It works perfectly for most of of the styles that I have on board. (some Ketron styles sound weird, and sometimes the Bass Patch number has a Bank Number that the Roland Keyboard doesn't pick up)

The great thing about this set up is that I can record a song and adjust the mix between the drums, bass and the accompany section afterwards, but the most useful thing is that I can replace the repetitive Bass Patterns with a Real Bass Guitar or a Manual input from a keyboard with a Bass sound selected.

I am using the other 5 inputs for Vocals, Guitars and a Roland BK9 Keyboard.

Is this possible??
I want to record the output of VArranger into Sonar Platinum.
I want to set up 6 channels to record at the same time.
Channels 1 & 2 would be The internal Sound Fonts for Drums and Percussion.
3 & 4 would be a Ketron SD1 for the Accompanying Voices
5 would be Roland 06 Bass
6 would be Roland 06 Pad

The idea of this set up is for being able to adjust the mix of the audio tracks later, rather than having 1 stereo recording of all the parts together.

So I think I can set up the different channels to output them in the correct way, BUT..... can I then save that set up so that when I call up a style the parts obey my setup and don't default to how it was before I made the output changes

That's great, something I've looked forward to for ages.

Can I have a download please? Is there a charge?

Ha Ha,
Clearly the opening poster is a guy that spends an awful lot of time delving into minuscule details about every aspect of all things great and small throughout the whole of the galaxy and beyond!!!!!!!

I just connected it all up with the intention of doing a video of whats happening, and it appears to be ok at the moment, I'll keep you informed

JamKazam..........You run the programme for the 1st time and you have to configure your audio interface to get a low latency, then you are allowed to continue. You can start or join sessions live with other musicians anywhere, but the further they are away, the greater the latency (but you do get used to it) there are some great musicians that join in, after all, nobody is gigging at the moment.
VArranger Using the VAranger Sound Banks starts to pick up wrong chords when I run JamKazam, BUT, if I use the midi output to my SD1 it works fine.

I was just trying to access some of the Tyros and Korg voices that are not available on the SD1.

Dan, this NOT a major issue for me, If the answer is not obvious I don't want to wasting your time on it
#9
Dan
I have a Desktop Computer with 8 Gig Ram, I'm using the Sound Banks that I purchased from you.
I have been trying to use it with Jamkazam, If you are not familiar with Jamkazam it's a superb online platform for playing live with other musicians anywhere in the world.

So this is what happens........
VArranger works perfectly, then I load Jamkazam, and VArranger appears to be normal but then starts to play wrong chords, I'm playing straight forward chords and the chord display will say that I'm inputting completely different chords. If I then close down Jamkazam, VArranger works perfectly again.

any ideas??

thanks

Dan is there any possibility at all that it could be made into a VSTi Instrument?

thanks
#13
I purchased all of the Sound Banks a few years ago and they are really good, automatically selects the right setup for the different format of styles.
What I am doing is playing VArranger on Computer 1 and recording in realtime into a DAW on Computer 2.
I set the tempos to the same value, but the timings of the recordings are always slightly out, it either slightly slows down, speeds up or both.
This causes problems if I want to quantize any additional tracks that I may record.
A way round this would be to record the backing track on VArranger and save it as a midifile and load the midfile into the DAW.
BUT,,,,, I need the Sound Bank Voices in my DAW to produce the same sounds.
Surely this can be implemented!!!!

#14
Hi Dan

did you manage to resolve this issue?

Stuart
#15
Yeeeessss, that will be a great feature
#16
Bluebeat
it is not just rendered recordings that are slightly out of sync, but also the real time playing aswell.
I have 2 computers, one with VArranger and 1 with Sonar.
If I was to set VArranger on 120bpm and record into Sonar set on 120 BPM and record for say 60 seconds, then go into Sonar and manually align the start of the wav file with the start of the 1st bar, then by the end of the 60 seconds it would be slightly out of sync.
It's been a while, but after time consuming experiments, I seemed to hit on the idea a setting the Sonar Clock to for example, something like 119.876 and got it to sync correctly.
I cant remember have a problem with the tempo fluctuating!!!!

Anyway, we are dealing with computers, they are designed to waste our time and stop us from actually producing an end product and allowing us to go out in the real world and play golf.

One serious thought, could you not import the VArranger rendered recording into something like Sound Forge and simply use a "Time Stretch" function to get it exact before then importing it into your DAW????
#17
JBridge,  if i'm not mistaken converts 32 bit DLL's to 64bit
It's been a while but I've got the B4II aswell as all of the old Aturia Moogs, Jupiters and Prophets working on my 64 bit system

Sorry Zeljko

I didn't your last comment post.

a little lost in translation maybe??
#20
Bluebeat
So is this the answer to the problem that you had?
#21
BlueBeat
I wish you all the goodwill in the world, and I do hope that this works for you.

However..........I have waisted endless hours in the past trying to get VArranger midi files to sound barley acceptable in Cakewalk with various VSTs and sound modules, they don't sound anywhere near as good as the out of the box sounds that VArranger attached to a SD1 for instance.
Take also for instance the Tyros files. These files have been programmed by brilliant guys in perfect perfect facilities to get the truly incredible sounds that they produce. Are you going to be able to get even close to these sounds by building your own GM bank.

Incidentally, I played a couple of the Midi demos on the Synthfont site, Time and Band on the Run, and I wasn't impressed, it sounded like they were were more of a live band, rather than a studio produced performance, but then....... sometimes that what you might be looking for.

It's not for me, I agree with you that Dans Sound banks as a VST is what really is required.
#22
BlueBeat
Is it your intention to have a version of Synthfont as a Sound Source in VArranger and also in Cakewalk aswell.
Would you then. in VArranger Set it up to suit a particular style, save as a midi file and then load that midi file into Cakewalk with the intention of having the same set of sounds as a staring point??
#23
Will the Synthfont work in VArranger so that all the correct sounds are automatically selected irrespective of whether you are using Ketron, Korg, Roland or Yamaha files like Dan's SoundBanks do at the moment??
#24
BlueBeat.
I have just experimented with the problem that you have.
I inputed 8 bars into the Song Chords, then Solo'd the Bass and recorded the mp3 file, Solo'd the Drums and recorded the mp3 file,Solo'd the Accompany 1 and recorded the mp3 file.
Then in Cakewalk I selected 3 Audio Tracks and imported the 3 mp3 files into the 3 audio tracks..
I struggled a little bit at 1st, but after setting the Tempo in Cakewalk to the same speed as the original track in VA it took me about 30 seconds to line up the tracks together.
I am estimating that if I did a full song of 3 minutes with 16 tracks it would take about 50 minutes to record and label the 16 mp3 files, another 10 minutes to load them into Cakewalk, and another 20 minutes to line them all up correctly.
That's 80 minutes it would take me to do the task.
Now I personally would rather get on with doing the pleasure of making music rather than behaving like a blind man in a dark room looking for a black cat.
#25
Bluebeat, it's not in my nature to get mad, and I find these discussions really interesting.
I agree with you that the features you are asking for would be a good asset
But........ for me, and the way I record it wouldn't help.
Question,,,, Am I right in thinking that you want to build a song by inputing chords in VArranger (say in 8 tracks) and then be able to export the 8 WAV files to a DAW, so that when loaded into the DW the 8 tracks would be there complete?
#26
A Tyros 3 that I had many years ago had the option to send the audio out to 4 different channels.
I'm wondering whether there is something like an 8 channel audio interface that could be added to a system and then have VArranger able to select the 8 different audio out channels rather than just stereo.
I would use this setup to record into a DAW and mix and play around with the mix without any timing problems
#27
Hi
I haven't switched my gear on for quite a while but read the forum posts every day.
Without wanting to get into a battle with anyone, my opinion is that the job VArranger was originally designed to do was to emulate a Ketron style playing keyboard.
As it has progressed, it now emulates all of the best style playing keyboards around and does a great job.
I bought the Sound Fonts and they sound brilliant.
I used Cakewalk from version 1 from back in the last century upto when they closed down a few months ago.
The problem was that it got caught up becoming as Bloatware Programme, trying to accommodate everything in one box.
I don't think that VArranger should go down the Bloatware route, I have experimented with a few VST's over the last 5 years or so and the "what works today, might not work tomorow" (after all , it is a computer) sydrome has kicked in so often that I have given up.
I know that more recently. a more VST accommodating version has been developed, but to me, that's more time to load up, more time to re-boot when it goes wrong, and nothing that I would ever consider using in a live set-up..
So to sum up, I, and I think most users are happy with using it for what it basically does best and if the odd the odd hammond organ VST works then great, but I am not expecting, nor am I wanting it to morph into a VST Solution, ,,,,,, maybe Dan feels that way too but doesn't want to upset anybody!!!
#28
Hi
Sorry your original post was regarding styles!!!

I use my set up for recording.

I have a 4 channel audio usb interface going into my recording pc that has Sonar Installed, I take the audio out of the VArranger PC into 2 of these channels.

You need to match the BPM on both systems and manually "snap" the start of the recordings to the start of the bars in Sonar.

Don't try and sync the clocks, it doesn't work.(sonar issue, not Varranger)

By the way. did you know that Cakewalk has been shut down :'( :'( :'(
#29
I had the same thoughts, went through a lot of time failing to get anywhere usefull.

I now have VArranger on one computer, audio out to my main recording computer that has Sonar Platinum installed.

It works really good

After a re-boot it's much better. I'm using the Varranger Sound Font BTW.
It sounds like there's a click on a record playing.

Dan

I'm experimenting with Soft Synths on a Surface Pro.
I've installed Asio4all and have got Atura Mini Moog and NIB411 working great, as I get the option in both of these to adjust the Buffer Size in the Asio4all Panel.
However, with VArranger, the Asio4all buffer siz3 appears to be stuck at 256 and can't be adjusted, the sound is not great as there are a few pops and crackles.

any ideas

Stuart
#38
I also bought the Soundbanks and agree that they sound really good, but the load up time is too long, and it does show a message at some time saying that there isn't enough room.  i've also experienced a few system crashes.
I know it sounds vague, The next time I switch the system on I'll record more details.

Stuart
#39
Ahh yes, Latency, I hadn't considered that, but it would be a problem.
#40
thanks
but I want to record multiple backing tracks with multiple vocal tracks on top and edit them afterwards :)
Im sure these features will be in VArranger 1.99 8)

I have an M Audio interface, Ill connect that up and see if its possible to get the outputs and inputs to work internally.

I was just wondering if anybody had done this??????
.

Has anybody been able to run VArranger and Sonar on the same PC?
I have in mind wanting to record the VArranger output (Soundfonts NOT an external sound module) as Audio into Sonar.

Could you clarify how soundbanks work.
Am I right in thinking that you load the four soundbanks in, one for each of the types of styles.
Then if you play a ketron style it will automatically select the Keyron soundbank
Next if you play a Roland style it will automatically select the Roland soundbank, is that how it works
Thanks Stuart

Do you know of a programme that can Edit a Roland Style???????

I have added a Roland BK 9 to my collection, and to my astonishment, you only have one end button, and that is linked to the Variation that is being played.

So if towards the end of a song I am playing in Variation 4, basically I can't do a quick end, I'm stuck with an 8 bar overture.

Ha Ha, it just crossed my mind that I could probably configure the BK 9 to play VArranger , turning Local Off and using the same BK 9 as the midi sound source :-*

October 08, 2014, 10:30:25 PM
I've got it all working great with 4 VSTs (kontakt), slight problem in that when I load the programme, Left 1 picks out one of the VSTs, an organ at a high volume.
I've tried selecting a sd2 voice and save the start up setting, but when I switch on again I get the left 1 VST organ again

Using the SLMKii, I would like to control the Lesley Fast-Slow effect of a B4II organ.
The modulation toggle does this biut it returns to OFF when you let it go, I would like a switch to turn it ON, and then ideally it would stay on until I pressed the same switch to turn it OFF

any ideas

Stuart
#67
it was the Novation Manual I read and forgot ;D
#68
Dan
Yes, the LED's work with the Novation SLmkII, well done and thanks.

It was slightly frustrating because I had that keyboard setup with all the knobs and switches assigned using one of the user presets (but with no LED's)
and now I will have to do it all again for the VArranger settings, (with the LED's)
this means that I will have to READ THE MANUAL again , and I hate reading manuals :(

never mind, off to Spain golfing tomorow, so I'll have another play after next weekend :)

I have had a play with Varranger and a Surface pro, an SD2 and a bucket load of VST instruments.

I put a lot of time into it before the Summer and came to the conclusion that I would not trust the VSTs in a live performance situation.

Being a performer you will be aware that your systems have got to be bomb proof, my findings were that although the VSTs sounded fantastic, one little computer lock up can make you look foolish.

I have only just recently got the latest Varranger version and I'm sure it will be much improved, what I will be aiming at is using the SD2 and only the B4 II Organ VST and hope that that set up will be rock solid.

As for controllers, I bought a Novation SL Mk II Keyboard and I Don't find it as user friendly as my M audio Keyboard an my Korg Nano controller but I will be persevering

Stuart

#70
Dan
Is there a way of controlling the volume of an MP3 file, maybe from a slider on my SLmkII, seperate from the volume of a voice that I am playing on the keyboard?

for instance I might have 20 mp3 files to use as backing tracks, and I want to use maybe piano and organ voices that I am controlling from my volume pedal, but I want to adjust the volume of the mp3 track only from a slider or knob on my keyboard without that slider adjusting the piano or organ voice volumes???

Stuart
#71
I had the Surface pro plugged into a new docking station with the output lead plugged into the headphone out on the docking station, in this set up the Audio Out didn't give me the headphone option.
When I plugged the output lead into the headphone socket on the side of the surface pro, it did.

problem solved
#72
I have only 1 WASAPI setting in the Audio Out box and that is Speakers (CNXT Audio), can you tell me how to select headphones?

thanks
#73
Dan
I went back to a version from February, 1.17 and the Net Framework problem is not there but it is with latest version that I downloaded last week, the message appears and the programme crashes.

I am using The Surface Pro and I have slight but annoying latency issues with the VSTs, I am using Kontakt 4 and the BII Organ.

If I load Kontakt or BII as stand alone apps and use the Asio4all driver there is no latency (through the headphone socket)

If I use the Asio4all output in Varranger the sound only comes out of the speaker in the side of the laptop, when I change the output to DirectSound, it comes out of the headphone socket but with latency.
#74
Dan
not used the equipment for a while.

not to worry,
#81
One more slight problem

I have a slot with Kontakt C3 loaded in saved to Right 1 with volume an the slider at 127 and it's not loud enough.
if I open Kontakt and increase the volume, save the kontakt state, save the Right Voice again, when I select another sound and then go back the the C3 sound the volume has dropped again????

any ideas
#82
i just found the out that the problem is that I have got the XY Pad set up so that when I press it, it controls modulation to switch the Lesley on and off.

So if I select the C3 voice, hit the XY Pad, the sustain appears on the left hand.

The lesley effect works when the sustain penal in pressed, so there is some conflict there, and not in VA

I have encountered a problem where the Left 1 sustain stays on.
It just happened again a couple of times now with an E Piano SF voice and I wasn't using a foot switch at the time.
At the time when it happened this time, an MP3 file was being played, but it has happened in the past with a style playing.

any thoughts

The organ s the C3 sample in Kontakt Vintage Organs, the foot sustain pedal automatically change to the Lesley Speaker control, really nice.

Here's a live recording using my 1 day old Surface Pro, Vst's, and Evanessance2

The Surface Pro is amazing

The piano is New York Grand in Kontakt, and the guitar and vocals are from Dimension Pro, the style sounds are from a soundfont called Evanessence2.

I've only just noticed the record section at the bottom right and it's a brilliant idea.

Starts off with a bit of "You've got a fried" and then wanders around a bit.

This is all to do with "When playing a Midi File".

I want to have a choice of 6 Right Hand VST Voices.
The Right Hand Voice sends out on Channel 16, so I can set up 6 Slots 01 to 06 using Kontakt with a different voice in each of the 6, all set to channel 16.
All these 6 voices I can put on the my sounds bar.

BUT
What I have found out is that I have to go OUT of Midi Play Mode and select the voice that I want using Right Hand 1 (channel 13), then change the midi input channel to 16 in Kontakt and then Save it as another User Voice.
So You are saving the channel 16 voice on the channel 13 Strip!!!!!!

When you go back into Midi play mode, the Right Voice can select one of of the "Channel 16" My Sounds Voices.

A bit confusing, but I can work with this

#97
Has anybody got the sysesx command for changing a midi channel into a 2nd drum channel?

Stuart
#98
Dan
I am adapting my midi files for VA.
I am doing a little project with a Bass Player so I have muted the midi file bass parts.
I am using Kontakt 4 Abbey Road Drums for a realistic live drummer sound on channel 10, and the odd instrument here and there on a few of the other channels.

My intention is to play from a choice of about 6 presets from Kontakt 4.

Problem!!!
When I play a style I can select any of the 6 presets no problem.
When I play a midi file, I only have Channel 16 for my Right Hand, and as soon as I select a Preset from the My sounds Bar, the volume slider on slider 16 goes to Zero, and when I push it back up there is no sound from the VST.

any ideas

Stuart

The midi channels on the presets are set to 16, as are the Kontakt voices,  the correct VSTs are selected on SEND TO MIDI OUT 2, if I select SEND TO MIDI OUT 1 the ketron voices play ok.

I've just ordered a SP 1, 128 gig, will be here on Monday.
This project is now officially my 2nd most expensive hobby ever.
Number 1 was a 1964 Lambretta, I could have dug a hole and thrown £20 notes down it all day and it would cost me less.

Could you use the micrio sdxc card to store VST libraries,
#101
What sound fonts are you using?
#102
Dan
You say you have 2gig of samples, how are they loaded in?
#103
I'm experimenting with 4 different computers at the moment, the desktops handle VSTs better than thr laptops.

I have a fairly new HP laptop,10 inch touch screen with 2gig ram and it's sooooooo slooooow :(

What are the "rules" regarding VSTs and Ram?
#104
ok, here's my opinion so far.
I've tried allocating a seperate VST to each track and it got quite jumpy and glitchy, though having said that, the samples were quite big, but I was trying to push hard to see how far it would go.
using a SD2 for the Drums bass and accomps with VSTs for Right Hand voices works great.
In a live performance you don't need pops and glitches so a mix of hardware and software voices is I think the way to go.
The new Save feature is a big plus.

well done Dan
it works really well, especially with Kontakt
The VintageOrgans in Kontakt is far better than the B4 plug

cheers

Are you using it with an SD2, or the virtual synth.
Does it have enough power to run VST's

My SD2 has just developed a fault.
It has been switched on all day, but when I came to play it just now there was no sound.
I switched it off for a short while then back on and it played ok for 30 seconds, starting screeching and stopped again.
I tried it on another computer and also with another power supply and it's still the same.
It works for a short while and then stops
any ideas

Just to clarify what I mean.
If I select an MP3 file in VA touch the keyboard the files starts to play.
I can then select a voice from the my Sounds Bar and play along with the song.
If I had CH16 sending Note on off data with the Volume set to Zero, and my Vocal Harmonser set to RX on Ch16, then anything that I sing during the on off data will produce a harmony.

Obviously, this midi data would have already been preprogrammed into the file along with the audio.

I love the way VArranger plays styles, midi files and audio files, but I have a question for you.

I would like to be able to select a file that would play audio and midi combined.

My use for this would be for using existing mp3 files that can also controll a vocal harmoniser.

I know there are other programmes that can do this, but I'm trying to keep everything within VA.

Mission Impossible??????????

16 channels each using VST, sounds great, but would it ever be used?
I'm sure there are lots of different uses for VArranger, from the basic load and play upto spending hours exploring VST's ;)

My personal aim is to take it out gigging as follows:-
1- I need it to play Midi and MP3 File backing tracks and be able to play different sounds at the touch of a button.
We can do this at the moment, but I would like to be able to select the next song during the present one playing without the next one starting in the middle of the present one.
Also, it would be really useful to have a larger popup type window displaying my list of user files (songs, mp3 and midi files) The top 40% of the screen I never look at, perhaps a window could popup in that area?
2- I want to go back to playing as much live as possible (I used to take a Roland Pro E and a DX7 out 30 years ago and that was all played live) and the VArranger is amazing for this. I am using the Ketron SD2 for sounds and it's really good.
There are several sounds that I need to be able to play with the Right Hand that the SD2, I don't feel, is good enough for.
Hammond Organ with Lesley is one of them, the B4 VST takes care of this and it does receive Programme Changes.
The Holy Grail is the Realistic Electric Guitar. Kontakt and Dimension Pro have patches that I would like to use for this, but the recall voice issue needs to be sorted out.
Arturia Minimoog  also receives Prog Changes and allows me to recall early Yes and Genesis memories.

Other than that, I personally can't imagine what other VST's I would require

Hope you don't mind these comments and suggestions

I did as you say, change the values in attack to 0 ( I also zero'd some of the other parameters as well ) and it saved and recalled ok.
Next Problem:-
I have loaded in 4 Dimension Pro VST's, with 4 patches, saved each of them and put them on the My Sounds Bar, and they play perfectly.

But when I save as a song and also the startup config, when I open up the programme again, the names of the saved patches are on the My Sounds Bar, but the 4 Dimension Pro VST's haven't loaded in their 4 patches.
Dimension Pro, and I'm assuming other sample based players don't respond to Programme Change messages.

I Know that when loading in a project in Sonar all the DP voices are recalled, could you add it to VArranger?

This article touches on the issue,

Dan

I played around with Arturia Mini Moog but recalling the saved voices was a problem, sometimes they worked other times they didn't, Ive now uninstalled it.
Todays mission was to install Dimension Pro 1.5. This is really good, no noticable latency, the sounds and effects are tremendous, BUT !!!!
There is a slight problem, and I believe it is within VArranger.
The Dimension Pro Voices keep losing The Attack, it's as if the instruments are being Bowed like a slow violin.
If I remove the DP VST and then load it in again, the problem goes, but I just saved a DP voice and put on the my sounds bar, selected a SD2 voice and then went back to the DP voice and the Lack of Attack is there again.
No matter what voice I select from within DP it's still the same, No Attack!!!

any thoughts?

If I select Strings as my 2nd Voice and have it layered over Right 1 Grand Piano, when I press the sustain pedal only the Piano Sound sustains correctly. The Strings sustain in a different way. The sound dissapeers if the pedal is down, but if I play a chord and press the pedal, the strings Hold.
So that's basically it, the 2nd voice Holds rather than Sustains

Another query
I have saved a few VST instrument User Sounds, but they don't always show up in the list
example, I set the B4 up to play prog change 4 Je t'taim (actually says 5 in the B4) Save it to Right Hand, name it and put it in the Organ Section
But it doesn't show up there.
If I then go to options, midi ports and change from SD2 to GM and back again, click start, then I can see the modified sound in the organ group with a yellow user tab.
But then if I select a couple more sounds,  the user sounds dissapear again

"Unhandled exception has occurred in you application etc
if I click ok, the box goes away

For the 1st time this evening I loaded in some midi files that I used to take out with me gigging 20 years ago.
They were all made to play on the Roland Sound Canvas an have Gs sysex reset at the start.

Now, I have a Ketron SD2 and the volumes of certain instruments are wrong.

Is there a way of using the sliders to get the volumes sounding correct, and then saving the newly edited midi file for later use?

Dan, Another question for you regarding Right Sounds.

I have Right 1 Lead Guitar
           Right 2 Organ
            Right 3 Synth Lead
Right 4 Piano, all set to the correct volumes.
I only want to play 1 Voice at a time, or perhaps 2, but want to be able to change the combination at the press of a button, like a Registration memory.
This then needs to be saved within the song for recall afterwards.

can this be done

Would it be possible for you to make a slight design alteration????

I have had the need a couple of times lately for Channel 1 to be on one of the Right Hand Voices.

Perhaps if you swapped the Left 3 with the Right 4???

I have been experiment,
My 1st midi out is going into Logic Pro X on my Imac, it sounds fantastic ;)

I have 16 channels set up in the same order as your Varranger bottom sliders.

However!!! Left 3-channel 1, Right 2 channel 14, Right 3 channel 15 and Right 4 channel 16 dont appear to be transmitting note on off data. the volume sliders are working in Logic but no sounds are being played on those 4 channels.

yes, I know that, but I want to play, both hands, and record, and maybe edit afterwards.

I have managed to separate the channels in Logic Pro now, it sounds really good.

I have another problem now, LP doesn't record at the moment, some setting somewhere isn't set correct (900 page manual)!!!!!!!

I am hoping to get an answer back off the Apple forum

Yes, I am playing Varranger with a controller keyboard and want to record the midi data into Logic.

The answer, I believe is in The Environment Section, but having never used Logic before, it is giving me problems.

I could do with installing a ready made template from somewhere

Stuart
#150
I'm not doing very well :-\

What I'm trying to do is take the output of Varranger into Logic Pro.
I want to set up a 16 channel midi template, with the hope that Varranger will programme select the correct patches for each of the style parts.
At the moment, even though i've set the logic tracks for midi channels 1 to 16, I appear to be hearing all the midi data on all of the tracks.
It is as if everything is omni on

anybody????
