Hi all,

I got the LED feedback working for everything (voice, showing variation, intro, etc...). But LED feedback doesn't work with Transpose -/+ or Octave -/+. Not sure if these 2 are sending some sort of special command or what. The settings for all buttons are the same:

Using Automap, I'm setting the buttons as: Normal Mode; Min = 0.0; Value = 1.00; Max = 127.00.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks all.

The vArranger² Software Forum / Reset transpose?
July 02, 2013, 06:02:03 PM
Hi Dan, can you add Transpose Reset to the list of "Controllers" that we can map to the MIDI controller CC? It probably doesn't have to be on the screen, but just something that we can map to.

Thanks,
Kenny.

Cakewalk is having a big sale on pretty much all the software/virtual instruments. If you are planning to use vArranger with VSTi, products such as Dimension Pro or Studio Instruments sounds great, and with this sale, it doesn't cost much at all.

Hi all,

Is it possible to create a custom "voice bank"? I'm talking about the "VOICE" section where it's currently having PIANO, EL.PIANO, CHROM, etc... This is NOT the same as MY SOUNDS :)

Also, I notice there are .INS files posted in the forum but I how do we load those .INS file?

Thanks all,
Kenny.

I'm not sure if there are differences between the Novation SL MkII and Korg nanoKONTROL in term of getting LED feedback, but I can't get the SL MkII to work (nanoKONTROL works fine!). Here's my setup for the SL MkII:

Buttons 1 - 8 sends CC #1 - 8
Buttons are setup as Momentary
DisplayType: I've tried all possible combinations, which are: LED, ON/OFF, 0-127, and 64 (can't remember exactly on the 64 piece.)

All the settings are saved in a template for the SL MkII, and I've set the Keyboard communication to Channel 1 U1/M1 (Channel 1, MIDI port 1, USB port 1).
For the Common communication (which is where the buttons and controllers on the SL MkII are send to), I've tried to set them as the same as Keyboard (above), as well as I've tried to set them to a different channel and or different port, i.e.: MIDI Channel 2, MIDI port 1 (or 2), USB port 1 (or 2). None seems to work.

I can control vArranger with those buttons just fine, just that the LED does not lid up :( I did check the box that says "LED" and selected SL MkII output port for LED. Can anyone help as I really hope to get this working and just use the SL MkII as my controller since they have a tons of knobs and buttons that should cover pretty much everything that I need to control vArranger.

Thanks,
Kenny.

Hi all,

Not sure if this is possible yet or not: I use vArranger with other VSTi plugins and other sound sources, is there a way to add "custom" voice to the "My Sounds" bar? i.e. right click on the bar, and there is an option for "custom" voice which I can specify however I want, such as Program/Bank, Preset, MIDI CC, etc...? This way, I can have this "custom" voice send a CC# or patch/bank number to my external sound sources or VSTi plugins.

Also, is it possible to send additional MIDI messages when selecting a voice? Again, there are some complex routing and multiple sound sources that I'm using and it would be great if I can use vArranger to control them all!

Thanks,
Kenny/

Hi Dan,

Just a suggestion as I have spend the past couple days preparing for my upcoming gigs. In vArranger, VOICE GROUP, MY SOUNDS, MY SONGS, and the number of items on each "PAGE" varies (10, 12, 20, etc...), and that make it quite difficult to map to a physical midi surface controller, such as nanoKONTROL, Novation Zero SL, Launchpad, or pretty much any surface controllers. Pretty much all physical controllers have sets of 8 knobs, 8 buttons, 8 sliders, etc... I wonder if at some point, you could have an option to be able to layout vArranger in that MIDI "standards" so that it make it easy to control.

For now, imagine you have rows of 8 buttons, trying to map SOUNDS 1 - 10, results in having to use 2 buttons from another row, that leave the other 6 buttons somewhere in between and it's a little bit difficult to remember :)

Just a suggestion to make vArranger better! I'm very excited with its abilities and really looking forward for more features to come!

Thanks,
Kenny.

Can we change the font displayed when opening a text/MID/Kar file for international language? I might have missed it but couldn't find an option to change the font. I have MID and Karaoke files that are in Vietnamese and they are not displayed correctly.

Thanks,
Kenny.

I'm running into issues with having multiple midi controllers (a keyboard and a Korg nanoKONTROL2 control surface). Basically I changes gears a lot and depends on the set (at home, at gig, which stage, etc...), I use different midi controllers, therefore, I'm using MIDI-OX with loopMIDI so that if I change my physical hardware gears, I just need to go to MIDI-OX and reroute/reconfig the settings, instead of manually changing the MIDI ports in vArranger.

The issues I'm having right now is that vArranger is doing a pass-thru for the nanoKONTROL and therefore, sending a bunch of unwanted CC to the SD2 (that explain why I'm having a bunch of unwanted FX or other CC-related from the SD2). Not sure how I should change my routing so that vArranger Controllers works with multiple devices.

Here is my setup:

1. vArranger is connects to a Master Control virtual MIDI port. Depends on the gig, I can have different keyboards connect to this virtual port using MIDI-OX. vArranger also connects to another virtual MIDI port, called "Controller Surface". Again, this can be changed depend on the hardware, most likely it will be the nanoKONTROL but it can also be wireless midi control signals sending from my iPad. I have set them up so that they all have the same CC# settings. The OUTPUTS for vArranger is vArranger SD2 (another virtual MIDI port that will send the signal via a USB-to-MIDI to the Ketron SD2), and vArranger VSTi (virtual port, can be used to send signals to VSTi plugins). See image #1.

2. To test out, I've open vArranger -> Options -> Controllers. I then select the Master Volume, and then move the control on the nanoKONTROL (which is current mapped to Controller Surface port). See image #2.

3. When I look at MIDI-OX, I see that instead of vArranger "translate" the CC# message send by the Controller Surface to CC7, do its magic, and sums up all the midi events then output to the vArranger SD2 port, it doesn't! It just do a pass-thru and therefore, instead of changing the volume, I'm now doing some CC Modulation in the SD2 instead. I also have the nanoKONTROL maps to other CC# that really affects the SD2 such as reverbs/distortion, etc... See image #3.

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here, would someone please help? I really need to be able to use the virtual midi ports, like I've mentioned, I changed gear a lot and I need the ability to set them from MIDI-OX instead of having to change them from the application.

Thanks for looking!

What is the proper way to mix/match vArranger with Ketron SD2 and VSTi plugins? This is my current setup but sometime the styles didn't played correctly, especially with drums/perc tracks:

vA MIDI In 1: M-Audio Axiom 61 keys.
vA MIDI In 2: Korg nanoKONTROL2
vA MIDI Out 1: USB-to-MIDI (connect to the SD2, SD2 mode was selected)
vA MIDI Out 2: loopMIDI virtual port (GM2 mode was selected)

My VSTi plugins (Hypersonic 2, SampleTank 2 for GM, as well as several other modules for specific sounds) are hosted by a VSTi host, the host'd MIDI IN is loopMIDI (output 2 from vArranger).

When changing styles from vArranger, my GM modules (Hypersonic 2, etc...) responded correctly and I got the sounds from them just fine, however, a lot of the styles (downloaded from the "Download" area) have problems with several channels, most noticeably Drums and Perc track. Not sure if that is the way it should be and I need to fine tune those problematic styles, or I'm doing something wrong?

Also, it seems like the SD2 module works best with Ketron styles (understandably, since they are from the same maker), but a lot of the Yamaha TYROS and Roland styles (again, downloaded from this forum) are also having with Drums/Perc tracks. Often time I heard weird sounds coming out of them, most of the time, from the Perc track. Any recommendation? I'm totally a vArranger newbie and I really looking forward to learn more about this amazing software!

Thanks,
Kenny.

I have no idea what I did but styles are having tons of fx coming out of the Ketron SD2 (reverbs, distort, chorus, etc...) and it's unplayable at this time :) Is there a way to reset all the FX from SD2?

And on the same line, is there away to NOT modify the SD2 effects at all? I've remap some of the CC# to my keyboard to control vArranger buttons but I'm not sure if that somehow sent to the SD2 and changes the FX level.

Thanks,
Kenny.
