I am going to buy a Nektar Impact LX88 wich has a lot of controllers and 8 pad.
You think that i can bypass the touch screen and buy a normal notebook?
Will you buy the LX88 or the LX88+ ?
You can control as much functions as you have midi buttons/knobs/faders...
I think first you try vArranger + Nektar, to see if you need touch screen or not. And then you buy the notebook
The price difference between touchscreen laptops (or we call them 2-in-1 laptops) and the non-touchscreen laptops is not that much, usually less than US$50 to US$100. I do not see a reason why not to buy a touchscreen laptop, especially when using with vArranger.
I have two setups for vArranger in 2 separate rooms, one with touchscreen, and one without a touchscreen initially. I found that without a touchscreen, I had to use a mouse to click some of the vArranger functions that I did not associate with the buttons of the external MIDI controller buttons/knobs/faders. Things like the choices/pages of styles and sounds are more intuitive with the touchscreen than with buttons, and MIDI controllers have limited number of buttons any way. For style progress/control I definitely use the buttons of the MIDI controllers because they feel more solid and easier to control than touchscreen when playing.
I ended up adding a 27-inch touchscreen monitor to my setup with the non-touchscreen laptop at home.
Thanks,
Paul
